    Cons

They will take advantage of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue all your price changes aren,t going to help you once you figure out that it is how you treat your employees that will help you, you might stand a chance. Save the money you spent on cookies and give more payroll.

I have been working at The Children's Place

    Pros

There's the discount. You basically work on your own.

    Cons

Company changes prices weekly sometimes more than that and they don't give you the hours to have more than one and one coverage and floorset is practically every week

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your store managers they don't know how to do their job. The company culture is horrible. Give your stores hours to complete their tasks and stop complaining when we can't finish when we're overtasked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is a TERRIBLE company to work for. Stores are given very little payroll...so little that it is just 2 associates all day. Then the store is expected to handle constant floor changes and updates, price changes every other day, all while training new associates and handling rude customers with their unruly children running through the store destroying displays. There is ZERO opportunity for growth in the company. Upper level management hires incompetent store managers and then refuses to handle the situation when the store manager is not performing. Instead of owning up to the poor decision, the blame game comes into play and fingers are pointed at everyone but the cause of the problem. You will work your butt off day in and day out, work ridiculous hours and then get zero appreciation from upper management. During store visits, you will not get any complements, only a huge list of things that are wrong...that's if the visitors even acknowledge your unworthy presence. Corporate sets ridiculous goals for the company credit card and when your team actually does meet the goal, the next month is set even higher. Again, no "thank you for your hard work. you did a great job." Instead, it's just "more, more, more." My advice to management: try living off what you pay your employees and when you can't afford to take care of your families, then re-evaluate how you do business. Or better yet, just close up shop and jump off a cliff. Then again....corporate hasn't listened thus far, so this was actually just a waste of my time.

I have been working at The Children's Place full-time

    Pros

If you have kids, it's a decent clothing discount

    Cons

No payroll for anything. No training hours for any level except store manager or above, no shipment hours, no floor set hours, and extemely high customer service standards and the expectations change quarterly depending on which person you talk to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please please stop over working employees! We cannot continue to work for minimum pay and minimum benefits. If it matters at all to retain good people than please change your payroll structure and appreciate the people in the field actually making you money everyday.

I have been working at The Children's Place part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The only pro about my store is the staff the best team I've ever worked with.

    Cons

    Minimum wage
    Extreme work load
    Ran like a small business
    Tedious tasks
Expectations are WAY TOO high for the pay
They want you to clean the store (mop, sweep, scrape gum off of the floor, take the trash out, you name it)
They want you to man the store, be a security guard since there are no cameras, sell clothes, and open credit card accounts damn near at the same time.
I'm not a janitor I'm a sales associate and the pay isn't great enough to even go above and beyond for the company.
    HOURS ARE HORRID!
And on top of that YOU have to call in to see if you're needed on some days. I'm not a doctor there's no reason I should be "on call" it's hard to plan your personal life around a 50/50 obligation
    No company culture AT ALL
    No proper training

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the CEO. Job satisfaction is key. Take notes from Nordstrom their inverted pyramid theory is perfect. Nordstrom treats their employees well! Excited to be putting in my 2 weeks! this company will not last much longer if it doesn't improve. Do better! It's retail not rocket science!

    Cons

you lose outside life if you work there ,you work harder than everyone else in retail but still its never enough .company is desperate and have unrealistic expectation . running high volume store with minimum coverage and no decent pay. you have to be desperate for a job if you want to work there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

if you decide to work for the company ask as much pay as possible because they will make you work for it anyways .

    Pros

Starbucks nearby... Starbucks nearby... Starbucks nearby... Starbucks nearby... Starbucks nearby... Starbucks nearby... And close to home. That's it!

    Cons

Hostile work environment cultivated from the highest level down, unhappy culture in most non-creative departments, employees are disposable. If you are unable to operate as a puppet robot, you will not survive. This company attempted to force me to ignore compliance regulations. They hook you in with a great PTO and salary package that is difficult to replace when you're trying to move on before they dispose of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Burn the place to the ground and start over...

    Store Manager

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at The Children's Place

    Pros

Flexible hours, competitive pay and PTO

    Cons

Corporate seems disorganized and unable to standby decisions. They either wait till the last minute or constantly revise their decisions. Corporate always changes their due dates of when things are to be done, while stores remain accountable to uphold theirs. When you have tight payroll and have to redo projects due to their lack of decision making it totally makes me feel that they disrepect managers time. Manager does not get their own personal e-mail, which makes it difficult to talk to dm on private confidential matters. POS systems are not up-to-date. Payroll is extremely tight and stores are run on two coverage. Since associates are not allowed to be alone in the store at anytime, this type of coverage typically means you are unable to leave on your break. Store manager position is meerly a "job" not a career. This position and the company were misrepresented to me at the interview process. Do yourself a favor and don't look for employment here.
