I have been working at The Children's Place full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It allows you to progress. I was hired as a sales associate march of 2014, became a sales lead july of 2014, and now october 2014 I became an assistant store manager and im only 18. This company has allowed me to really show my skills and how I am able to contribute to the business im very lucky and fortunate to be in the position that I am.

    Cons

Many sales associates leave early dont like the job nor hours they recieve but than again its only a part time job for sales associates.

I have been working at The Children's Place full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The store manager reviews on glass door are embarrassing. You can get what you want from this company... You just have to be driven and ambitious. The reviews of people, that can critic a successful business in a bad economy, are delusional.
Wake up people. Reviews are for the skeptics. If you go through life being skeptical you're going to remain lost in the wall paper.

    Cons

The company is too safe. They keep producing the same thing year after year. There is nothing groundbreaking about this company. When I tell people where I work...they're clueless.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take risk. Offer better incentive. Create a concrete succession plan. Listen. Validate. Recognize. Prevent me from humoring myself with glass door.

    Pros

There's always room to grow with this company. I was hired in for holiday help and I was promoted to Store Lead a couple months later.

    Cons

It's retail so the pay isn't as good as I would like.

    Pros

    Management is open and honest

    Cons

so little time to complete all tasks needed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more hours needed to train the right people for their jobs, we stress the right person for the right place at the right time but if they don't walk into the store as that person....we can't invest in them right away without sacrificing time away from our customers

I have been working at The Children's Place full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent employee discount. Great benefits. Great amount of PTO/Sick days plus Comp days. Lots of growth and opportunities at this company. Very flexible with scheduling as well as great management. A fast-paced working environment...we do it all: floorsets, selling, shipment, cleaning, windows etc. Smaller team of associates which helps with open communication. Lots of company incentive programs to win money for your store.

    Cons

PAYROLL: Yes, everyone gripes about it because there just isn't ever enough given. To those of you who are retail associates, you will get maybe 15 hours a week MAX (If you are lucky). Management normally gets most the hours because they are required to have a minimum set hours weekly. There is not much training for the new recruits only because again payroll doesn't permit. With upper management changing, contradicting views set in and make it difficult to make heads or tails of things. Patience is definitely needed during the heavy times with no payroll as well as with the extreme demands for tasks to be completed ASAP.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the upper management (DM's and RD's): pay attention to the needs of your higher volume stores that reach out for your help. To whoever distributes payroll: rethink the scale. If payroll was based off of sales plan, then make sure you compensate those who are getting ripped off. For instance: there were two store's who's sales plan was $45,000: one store was given 178 (Base) hours to run the store with and the other was given 370 hours. If hours are distributed unevenly, reach out to your DM's/RD's and have them shift hours from store to store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have less employess so we can get more that 5-10 hours mazimum weekly.

I have been working at The Children's Place part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You learn a lot on the job, get a great discount. I love my job!

    Cons

I have none. I would just like to say that, I guess it all depends on the store you work for, because it seems a lot of people had different experiences. It could be because of their work ethic, or they were bad employees, or maybe you did have a bad management team. I love mine, we are like a little family. We all work well together, and to the person that said "i only say my store manager 3 times in 3 months"... Maybe you are in a bigger store than me, but my store manager is there 6 days a week. I work with her almost all the time.

Sure you can work as little as 3 hours a week (and if you are looking for a full time job, retail is not for you). Some weeks you can work as many as 25 hours and some as little as 3, that's retail. Not just The Children's Place. My store manager made it clear in our group interview that it would be like that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None, I love them!
