    Pros

Always something new to do. Keeps you busy and is fairly easy to keep up with. Friendly workers and managers

    Cons

Minimum wage for a job that requires a lot of work. I could get more at a fast food place.

    Pros

Coworkers are extremely friendly. Store Management team is extremely fair with scheduling and very accommodating and flexible. Offers great employee discount.

    Cons

Corporate management team is extremely micromanaging. Training program is extremely unorganized and confusing. Corporate does not seem to value employees.

    Advice to Management

Trust your store employees more. Do not place so much responsibility on store management. All the paperwork management needs to complete does not allow them to take time to train employees or help customers.

  3. Love my staff but as a part time manager they require you to do a lot of work for so little pay

    Pros

Wonderful staff & dm, the only reason I really stay is because I get along with my coworkers perfectly

    Cons

Horrible pay & no benefits for part time managers, key leads do just about everything a asm does and still doesn't get anything out of it

    Advice to Management

    Better pay

    Pros

They worked around my school schedule very well and they give a 0.25 cent raise every 6 months, which I enjoyed!

    Cons

Bad management treated part-time employees like crap. There was always some new credit card push, forcing you to bother customers who were ringing out to give you their email. Several times I knew someone was in a hurry and did not push a credit card or email notifications on them, and ended up getting in trouble. They expect you to treat TCP like the best place ever, management was a bunch of late 20 year olds who were on a power trip and just wanted to gossip and talk badly about each other's husbands.

    Advice to Management

I did not enjoy management. If TCP paid more for management, maybe they could get better people in there. Managers were too young and had no management experience. They just wanted to play pranks on the nerdier girls, gossip about each other, and act like your best friend to your face (only). Managers need to realize that they work at a failing mall atmosphere, not NASA.

    Pros

    -Great environment
    -fun atmosphere
    -good training
-easy to balance with school course load
    -good store-level management
    -significant employee discount

    Cons

    -low pay
    -few hours
    -call-in shifts
pushy sales tactics: employees are required to ask every customer to apply for the store's credit card (every customer, no excuses policy)

    Advice to Management

The minimum wage pay does not fit the workload expected of employees. Constant price changes and new floor sets are time consuming, and pay should reflect that.

I worked at The Children's Place part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of hours available if Sales Lead or above. Above minimum wage starting pay. Flexible scheduling if Sales Lead or above. PTO accrues rapidly. Green initiatives. Padded flooring installed to ease body aches, pains, strains.

    Cons

Few hours for associates. On-call scheduling is a nightmare for associates, leads and managers. Ridiculously short opening and closing hours make it very difficult to get any tasking/planning done off sales floor. Little recognition of job well done. No overlap of AORs. Other leads/managers not willing to assist/mentor newer ones. Only managers can set sale/signage for sales and promos which are set night before. Two-two coverage always.

    Advice to Management

    Take away on-call scheduling!

    Pros

Started me above minimum wage even though I had no retail experience. Lenient with when you take your break (just ask during a time that's not too busy.)

    Cons

Multiple assistant managers, all wanted different things during one shift...lot of confusion. Not willing to train because the hiring manager didn't specify to assistant managers that I had no previous experience.

    Advice to Management

Have a clear goal for the entire store so that assistant managers aren't giving one set of directions when you arrive for your shift and then needing you to completely redo it. Assistant managers need to communicate with each other.

    Pros

30% off company discount, fun to work with kids

    Cons

Sales leads are lower management, but refuse to give them any kind of benefits like paid sick or vacation days, even though we do just as much as an asm or sm. Lack of support from higher management. You can't go to your DM with an issue. The store gets little hours for the amount of work they want done. Associates are expected to bend over backwards for minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Offer a little better than minimum wage, give stores more hours for the work load. Don't force the team to twist customers arms around their back for a store credit card.

    Pros

good discounts if you have children, decent job for high school student looking for some extra cash but don't expect to benefit from a job here in any other way.

    Cons

Never enough staff to handle the amount of shipment and freight we had to put out, was the only stock person for about a year and change. The store I was in had many internal issues with employees that upper management refused to resolve. Very few advancement opportunities, and the pay was disgustingly low for the work that we were expected to (and succeeded at) complete. Other than the discount there were NO benefits for part time employees and the only full-time employees were the Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
Tough atmosphere at the end. District and regional managers left the company frequently. Corporate only cares about their bottom line, no room for advancement. Part time employees are required to have at least 2 on call shifts each week which seriously limits them from being able to hold a second job (which they must considering they are paid poverty wages and given a minimal amount of hours)

    Advice to Management

Stick with a plan and go with it. Stop hiring from outside the company to fill DM positions, use your SM's that bleed from the eyes to get the job done. Pay employees a livable wage comparable to their expected workload and goals.

    Pros

Decent pay and good discounts if you have children. The associates are fun to get along with.

    Cons

Bad raises, terrible marketing, and expects too much. Needs to pay associates more than minimum wage for the expectation and work they do.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with more respect
