    Good Experience

    Facilities Manager (Current Employee)

ProsGreat opportunity to align work efforts with your religious beliefs. Common values among work associates is also a nice convenience. Good benefits.

ConsTenure and longevity seems to be more valued than talent and potential. Frustrating to see the politics and lack of taking accountability in church employment.

    Great job, low pay

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Salt Lake City, UT

ProsExcellent place to work with a great atmosphere. Co-workers that share the same values.

ConsLow payscale. Very little recognition of employee contribution. Dress code is VERY formal - suit/tie/coat to work every day at all times (you can take off your suit coat when you're sitting at your desk, otherwise you have to have it on). Very little advancement opportunity.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to HR - build a rewards system that actually means something, where employees are rewarded for the work they actually do instead of just giving broad "merit increases" annually to everyone.

    Stable workplace with satisfying work.

User Experience Designer (Current Employee) Salt Lake City, UT

ProsGreat to work with people who have common beliefs and values. Gratifying to work on projects that further the Church's mission. Very accommodating to family life. Great health benefits and 401k matching. Plenty of interesting projects to work on.

ConsComplicated bureaucracy is frustrating. Some departments aren't great in helping with career development and training.

    It is a job

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsOk benefits. Great food in the cafeteria.

ConsMy manager was very lazy and never improved over the 8 years I worked there. I worked at a position that was open 24 hours 7 days a week. The monthly schedule was always a week late coming out for the month currently working. If there was a Holiday that month you just had to wait and see if you were on the schedule. There was also a lot of office problems between co workers that the manager never dealt with. I felt like the manager wasn't always honest.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employee's. Take a few management classes to prepare you for the job. Try to plan ahead so that your employees can plan ahead for Holidays and the month ahead.

    Looking for a new job!

Administrative Assistant - Facilities Management (Current Employee) Mesa, AZ

ProsGood benefits, flexible work hours at times

ConsVery little if any room for advancement!

Advice to Senior ManagementChurch suggests hiring and promoting from within but they rarely do, why train and encourage growth among employees unless you are actually going to do it!

Nice work environment, dead end career path.

    Engineer (Former Employee) Riverton, UT

ProsThe people are the best reason for working here. Working with these professionals towards a common goal is very rewarding. The pay is good depending on experience, benefits are great and the dress code is business casual.

ConsThe lackadaisical HR department is the biggest con. Promotions for engineers are rare, random and it is common knowledge that leaving and coming back is the only direct route for obtaining the next career level. That is true unless you take the management route, which does have a career path with frequent promotions caused by reorganization opportunities.

Advice to Senior ManagementPeople are not commodities or robots. This organization is bleeding a lot of good people and talent because their contributions are not recognized. Get to know the people under your hierarchy and personally thank them for what they do.

QA Manager (Current Employee) Riverton, UT

    ProsGreat values - great projects

Consvery bureaucratic. role clarity is lacking everywhere. Decisions made with no real logic as to why. Processes are implemented but upper management are exempt from there own processes.

Advice to Senior Managementbe consistent, follow your processes. Have a good reason based on logic when you say yes or no.

If you have enough passion to overcome excessive bureaucracy then this might be for you.

Program Management Intern (Current Employee) Salt Lake City, UT

ProsGet to work on things that most people who are members of the Church would be passionate about.

ConsBureaucracy. Most people who started working here because they had a passion for it quickly lose that passion to the slow pace.

Advice to Senior ManagementHad one manager who was extremely unethical. In an organization like this, that shouldn't be tolerated.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
