I worked at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

    Pros

The people I worked around were so nice. It was like a family.
The pay is ok, but the tips bring it up to a decent amount.

    Cons

The hours were kind of unavoidable, but working weekends and nights makes having a social life hard.

    Pros

    Nice people
    Great work environment
    good benefits

    Cons

No development or movement across depts
    Departments are silo'd
    older workforce
    No incentives
    Male domiinated

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on single culture vs every department doing its own thing. Get new younger leaders in at the top to drive more engaged workforce

I worked at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

    Pros

Loved the people I worked with--good people really trying hard to make a positive difference in peoples lives
15 Million members worldwide, plus missionary and humanitarian efforts that have an even broader footprint--the possibilities of using technology to impact the work are huge.

    Cons

Big organizations come with big organization challenges. Technology is not the primary focus of the Church so the adoption of new technologies and the application of new technologies is slow--particularly when it comes to enabling the use of technologies for local members--but the Church is moving in the right direction.

I have been working at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

    Pros

The best thing about this global non-profit that focuses on family is that they really mean it. Work-life balance is always at the forefront of the decision tree.

    Cons

I don't have any negative comments for this employer. Some employees can't separate Church from employment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take the time to hire the right minded individuals.

I have been working at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Work in a setting where you can freely have Gospel conversations
In a setting where you can meet new people and learn a lot from them
    Low stress situation
    Flexible time schedule

    Cons

It is very challenging to progress and be promoted
Most of the work is very monotonous
Some of management can be self-righteous and demeaning to employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It feels there is a major lack of communication between us and management on expectations and overall vision of projects. Be clear in what you want to see be delivered.

I worked at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The people are great to work with. You never need to worry that the content being produced is not great.

    Cons

It's difficult to move up in the company or even get a full time job, which means there are no benefits. Some managers are very busy and don't delegate well so some problems take a long time to get fixed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be nice to have some better opportunities for on-call employees to get full-time jobs.

  11. Good place to work

I worked at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (more than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, very people oriented, friendly co-workers, impactful work

    Cons

Since it is not profit based, some lower end managers were completely incompetent. Clearly had no idea what they were doing and even upper management would admit they they were causing problems, but said they couldn't fire them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If someone is hindering the work by not being competent, let them go. They can find work elsewhere, don't be a crutch of employment for them.
