Sales Associate

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at The Connor Group

ProsGood training for beginners, pay is decent, good work/life balance.

ConsWhere do I start! No job security at all! There is a very high turnover rate, everyday you fear for your job, even if you are following their specific guidelines. Every week they fired someone new, from sales associates, to property managers, to regional managers. They over hire sales associates and have them on the "bench" so they don't hesitate to fired you with no warning because they always have someone to replace you. They do not care about their employees or residents. Their main focus is on money and they will do anything to cut corners to save money. Upper management sets unattainable goals and have no idea what is going on at the properties and they don't want to put money back into the properties to keep residents. If you want a long term career don't choose this place.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to value your employees more! They are on the front lines everyday working hard to meet your goals. Employees should not be disposal.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Most Poisonous Office Culture I've Ever Seen

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Dayton, OH

I worked at The Connor Group full-time for more than a year

Pros-decent salary and bonus for the poistion and lack of education required
-strong sales training

Cons-long hours, including more weekends than promised when hired
-incompetent and trashy upper management
-only concerned with the bottom line
-hard to reach sales goals if you are at one of their more neglected communities
-maintenance standards are terrible; keep "repairing" appliances long past their useful life and then seem surprised when it breaks again in 3 weeks
-terrible reputation among renters which creates unhappy office atmosphere
-constant revolving door of managers and sales associates

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time up front to really explain what the company is all about. Be honest about the work schedule requirements. Train your upper management on resolving employee conflicts, motivation, creating a good workplace atmosphere, and ethics. Care more about how you treat the residents than how much money you can wring out of them.

NO RESPECT FOR EMPLOYEES OR RESIDENTS

Property Manager (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at The Connor Group

ProsKnowledge of the business is second to none, making money is the only concern

ConsThey do not care about residents or employees at all... Money is the ONLY object at this employer. Do not be taken in by the sales pitch. They love you and leave you after they use you up.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize the value of your staff. I have seen good people that would stay with you for their entire careers be treated like garbage with upper management totally unaware and then completely unaffected once it is brought to their attention. What is the turnover percentage at this company? Turnover cost $$, Larry himself taught me this concept yet it seems to have been forgotten....

Consuming place to work that will use you up and spit you out

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at The Connor Group

ProsThere are defined procedures to follow. You have clearly set yet highly unattainable goals. The company makes money. In the location it is in, there is not a lot of other opportunities with as much showmanship.

ConsIf you are single, have no family, and have no other outside hobbies/interests--this is the perfect job for you. 7 day work weeks are the norm and when you take time off you are seen as not being committed to their culture. Ask them what their turnover rate is and ask to speak to current employees before accepting a position--ask for a list of former employees doubt they have 1 they could give you. Get their promises in writing--your number will come up even if you are in the inner circle.

Advice to Senior ManagementWake up and realize that your turnover is directly related to your recruiting and training practices. If you have weak regional managers you will have weak regions Happy employees make a much better workforce. Happy customers pay their bills.
