Great company to work for!!! They promote from within the company quite rapidly, if you're performance is up to par.

I have been working at The Gap full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is a strong chance you would be promoted at the Gap, as they are a large corporation. Including Banana Republic and Old Navy retailers. Pleasant, but fast paced environment to work in.

    Cons

There are no benefits given to part-time employees, which is unfortunate because the only way to attain full-time employment is to become a manager or be hired in as one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Gap, Inc. is over-saturated with managers. There are so many managers that they begin to micro-manage everything. This type of management works in some environments, however, not at a International Retailer. Employees quit and become frustrated at the fact that someone is constantly standing over their shoulder delegating duties.

I worked at The Gap full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic benefits that start immediately upon hire. They recently implemented ROWE: Results Only Work Environment which is extremely progressive and is conducive to being happier at work and in life in general. I loved my time there and I appreciate all that I was able to learn and contribute to the company.

    Cons

Some of the higher up executives don't have much experience in fashion and are more business/numbers oriented, which detracts from achieving the highest design quality and productivity for employees. It was a hindrance in many ways, including fully understanding the needs of the employees in order to turn out the best product possible. Other than that it was great.

I have been working at The Gap part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    The hours are always available.

    Cons

Once you start working a high volume of hours it is hard to reduce.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not schedule marketing hours and next day shipment! I would get off around 11:15pm on Sunday and have to return to work at 5:45am.

I worked at The Gap part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This company has great over all training! The management makes sure that you are confident and clear on your job assignments. great diversity in the staff, which leads to full customer satisfaction for the customer, and a feeling of accomplishment for the employees! Great " team" feel! Feeling like a part of a "FAMILY" is a great way to boost morale in a work environment! The GAP, INC. is excellent at building great teams within their store staff!!!

    Cons

Our Asst. Mgr. did not always like to 'JUMP IN" to the project with the rest of the team, while the Mgr. was "hands on" with all tasks and projects. The very best managers join in with their staff and lead by example! Other than that, an overall, best job experience in retail! Thumbs up!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Full management team needs to always lead by example!

    Pros

Everyone that works there is happy and fun and grateful for the work you put in every day. I learned a lot and enjoyed working in such a positive atmosphere.

    Cons

My only con is that I would go shopping during my breaks and after my shifts. I didn't save much money that summer, but I was always dressed well!

I have been working at The Gap part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I've been working at baby GAP for the past 5 months and I couldn't be happier. The instant I got hired I was surrounded by amazing managers and co workers, they go out of their way to train you and teach you everything you need to know. They are super flexible with schedules and vacation days. On the events we have for GAP we go full out and it's so fun to work with people who are passionate about the company. Career opportunities are offered as well.

    Cons

It was a bit stressful with how the management pushed us to sell the GAP credit cards - I considered myself a great sales associate but when it came to GAP cards that was one area that just didn't like. I've never had to go through a boot camp but apparently they exist to help associates sell more cards!
