    Pros

Great company if you are full time

    Cons

If you are a part timer you get hardly any hours and it it hard to make a living

    Advice to Management

Give the good employees a chance to grow and motivation to reach full time would be a plus

    Pros

Foundational principles are great. Stability of the company cannot be undermined. Currently the fundamentals are good.

    Cons

In IT, the strategic vision is not clear. There is confusion about buzzwords being thrown around.

    Advice to Management

IT management needs to align and transmit the vision clearly.

    Pros

Great people there - I made some lifelong friends - good sense of community. Many people I started there with are still there, 15 years later, and counting.

    Cons

Should negotiate a wanted salary/or hourly rate before taking the job. The raises are negligible and very small. The only time I got a decent raise was when I had an offer from another company that wanted to hire me, Home Depot matched the other company by giving a raise of over a dollar an hour. Otherwise it was usually .25 to .50 per hour raise. They also treat their department heads and managers not very well. For that reason I never wanted to be a manager. The extra pay was not worth the 11 hour days and being treated like a slave.

    Advice to Management

Some of you need to get over yourselves! You need to treat the associates the way you would like to be treated by YOUR managers.

    Pros

I got a lot of experience working with people that knew more about the job than the retail side. Everyone is fairly knowledgeable and is willing to talk till their face turns blue.

    Cons

Micro management and point system were lame. No commission for sales people and they still enforce indivual sales goals. Even meeting and exceeding my proportionally high sales goal I was given a 1% raise every year, and I was the lowest paid in the department.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people what they are worth. You invest in your associates then don't care if they stay or leave. Understand that most sales positions that have strict sales goals offer benefits like bonuses and commission. Ditch the point system you are losing a lot of really great motivated sales people that are willing to be flexible with their schedule just to make their sales goal, and increase your profit.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, the people are fun to work with.

    Cons

Management from store to store is very inconsistant. To much micromanaging. Not enough coverage on the floor. A lot of responsibility for very little pay. No incintive to learn more or be certified on equipment or additional departments. Very little trust in its own employees. Management and supervisors need to be on the floor more helping customers.

    Advice to Management

Make sure when you promote someone for a department that they know what they are doing. Trust your employees to know what they are doing, do not be a babysitter or micromanage. Overstaffing cause of walks is counter productive because it leaves the strore with less staff later on.

    Pros

home depot has good benefits nice work environment, annual bonuses, 401 k homer fund very good people to work with training available

    Cons

schedule can be pretty hectic at times, working all times of day or night any day of week ,they ask a lot of you for the pay grade

    Advice to Management

stop being so rigid about what the supervisors should be doing at times of the day as supervisors we know how to get tings done
