I have been working at The Jacobson Group full-time

    Pros

Company provides great experience and learning opportunities, especially for new grads and young professionals. When I started at the company, I didn't have much experience. Over the years, I have been mentored and given room for growth and added responsibilities. In this culture, you will be asked to take on more responsibility; but as you prove yourself, recognition, promotions and raises will follow. I advise young professionals to be realistic about their expectations: You won't get a huge raise/promotion 6 months into your tenure; you have to earn it, but it will come. This is a relatively small company, so there is easy access to senior management and no one is "just a number".

    Cons

    No 401(k) match.

I have been working at The Jacobson Group

    Pros

Good organization for someone coming out of college to get corporate experience. Depending on the department, an individual is exposed to many levels of professionals throughout the insurance industry. It's a small company, everyone is highly visible to all management.

    Cons

Training programs are inconsistent and often cut short due to recruiting needs. The pay scale seems low compared to competitors and once individuals gain experience, another company benefits from their experience by paying more. Also, there is no 401k match.

I have been working at The Jacobson Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It is surprising to read reviews (outside of temporary employees) that say that there aren't many opportunities for growth within the company. My assumption would be that those individuals failed to express interest and take the initiative on creating their own career path. This is definitely a work hard play hard atmosphere that not everyone does well in. No one is ever just handed a promotion... One needs to prove themselves and do things that are above and beyond their "job description" before given additional responsibilities or moved into a new role. The people that work (and stay) at Jacobson have a real passion for the work they do and strong loyalty to the company, brand, and mission. It is a small company, which allows for quick implementation of new ideas and great exposure throughout the organization. After spending time working for a large corporation, the family feel of TJG is a breath of fresh air and somewhere I plan on staying at for many years to come.

Recruiters that would do well here are those that truly like to work as a team. There is no competition between teammates like one might experience at a staffing firm paying commission per placement versus a bonus structure. This is not a dog eat dog environment, but it also doesn't mean that recruiters don't bust their butts and work evenings or weekends when needed.

Sales individuals need to be prepared for a long term relationship. Depending on the service, the sales cycle can be quite long compared to others. With uncapped commission potential though, the sky is the limit. Want to make more money? Sell more. It is as simple as that.

Finally, operational roles are super important at Jacobson. There is so much behind the scenes work that is required to keep the business moving forward and successful... These people can sometimes be the unsung heroes and work some crazy hours, but should feel great about the work they are doing and how they contribute to the company.

Bottom line? If you want a job or to just be another number, look elsewhere. If you want somewhere to start a career and are looking for a company you can be passionate about, then Jacobson is definitely worth a conversation. Every company has its pros and cons, but this is by far one of the best staffing and executive recruiting organizations out there. Great brand recognition in the industry with business that is booming. Plus, banner years = all paid trip for you and a plus one in Las Vegas!

    Cons

Being a small company, some of the benefits aren't as robust (no 401k match for example). Additionally, there is an obvious difference in management style and philosophy amongst the managers and leaders of the organization, which means employees might find themselves not wanting to move to a new team if they do not align with the management style within that area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up. You always take employee engagement and feedback surveys seriously and make changes as needed. The company is headed in a great direction and this is the strongest I have seen the company in the past 5 years or so!

I have been working at The Jacobson Group as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Long term contract
    -Decent starting pay
-Eventually offer 401K, insurance discount programs

    Cons

    -No pay raises
-No holiday, sick time or chance for vacation pay
    -No attendance, performance incentives

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Yearly pay raises would be nice start not to mention quarterly incentives for perfect attendance and paid holidays would be a good start. When I asked about getting pay raises 2 years in a row, company contact always said it was dependent on contractor regarding this matter even though Jacobson could afford doing it themselves. After all I'm sure my company contact and CEO always get one.
