    Pros

Travel. Professional recognition. Sharing of knowledge around the world.l

    Cons

There should be more uniformity in how the survey teams interpret the standards. As it is now, the service provided to the international hospitals varies according to the makeup of the survey team, and most importantly, the team leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Surveyors should be paid at a much higher rate than they are presently. International consulting starts at around $500 a day with many being at $1,000 a day. And like it or not, the surveyors are acting as consultants to the hospitals being surveyed. These hospitals look to the surveyors for guidance and almost always appreciate the advice given by the surveyors. If Management really want to make it easier on the surveyors, they should share more of the findings with the teams. As it is now, the teams work in the dark, not knowing how the standards are being scored by all the other teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be less concerned with leaving your mark by changing the way things are done, go back to the days of Drs. O'Leary and Massaro.

    Pros

Good work, great benefits, no regrets about choosing this place of employment

    Cons

This organization is slow to change. Too many people have a "vote" so change does not happen as quickly as it should.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We spend too much time asking staff what they want...and then not doing it if it conflicts with priorities. Ask staff once, make decisions, and move on.

Current Employee - Associate Project Director in Oakbrook Terrace, IL

    Pros

good work-life balance, good benefits, flexible work schedule and telecommuting, collaborative and healthy work environment. Management strives to keep employees happy and reward effort and performance, although company policies surrounding career progression and compensation seem to be constrictive and dated.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for career progression; pay not necessarily driven by performance; slow salary progression; changes is slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better retention policies(including career opportunities and quicker salary progression) for high-performing employees and to attract talent are desperately needed.
