I worked at The Ohio State University

    Pros

There are many opportunities for growth at Ohio State. It is very easy to make connections with many different people. There is a great definition of leadership at Ohio State

    Cons

A lot of red tape because it is such a large organization. Takes a lot of time for messages to get to the correct recipient sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

The benefits to being a full time employee at the medical center are fantastic. Medical, dental, vision, retirement, etc are all top notch plans

    Cons

The pay is fairly low for someone who has a PhD, but that is somewhat to be expected at a large university like Ohio State

    Pros

    Great benefits and Buckeye pride.

    Cons

The size of the university contributes to a massive amount of bureaucracy and micro management. Not the best environment for the creative, free thinking types.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it easier for younger people to conceptualize and develop changes and small projects without having to get caught up in red tape.

    Pros

Coworkers are friendly and professional. The supervisor is very knowledgable and very supportive, that helps a lot in the academic research.

    Cons

Actually there are not many cons. If I have to say, it would the lab management could be better, such as the equipment usage and maintain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe should provide a better train for the new coming members.

I worked at The Ohio State University

    Pros

The 20 word minimum requirement will be met by me saying it was an okay campus job. It had flexible hours.

    Cons

The cons are it doesn't pay extremely well. I'd rather it pay a little more but it worked

I have been working at The Ohio State University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits; fairly flexible hours; nice to be a part of the university community; decent employee appreciation

    Cons

Very large so it's hard to feel "unified" or meet others outside your immediate coworkers; little room for administrative advancement unless employed at OSU for 10+ years or you are willing to job-hop around the university; endless politics, bureaucracy, and "red-tape"
