Total lack of caring for anyone except shareholders, customers bedamned.benefits

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsBenefits for mgmt team. Weekend off and vacations time IF you can work it in with your labor guidelines.

ConsVery long hours, always short handed due to labor constraints. Employees want to do a good job, and work in a clean organized store. We feel frustrated in having too give something up for "making labor". NO communication from support center, we seem to find things out after the fact. New monthly promotions always wrong 1st day or 2.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo into other convenience store and see what is working for them. Copy that, don't just give us the less expensive version. Pay and part time hours and raises for new hires are all bad. Full timers with insurance take on a more this is my store attitude than a tired part timer trying to juggle 2 jobs.
Large stores need to be run differently than low volume.

    Ineffective, disorganized, and unstable

    Developer (Former Employee) Cary, NC

ProsMost people are cordial; Some of the IT projects are interesting; Health insurance costs are modest for mediocre coverage

ConsHR cannot be trusted; Legal dept exists only to make sure managers are protected from their abuses (like forcing employees to work off the clock); Most ineffective IT group I have ever worked for; Took 8 years to upgrade their ERP system and still can't track costs to the item level; Installed multimillion dollar fuel pricing system that resulted in the worst fuel sales in company history; Installed multimillion dollar time clock system that doesn't work; Took several years to install POS that works in only half the stores; Also they only pay lip service to SARBOX controls (audit nightmare); Management doesn't listen to nor do they care about the employees; Bad employees and managers are often protected by legal team- Innovation is discouraged

Advice to Senior ManagementIT management needs to be completely removed; Senior HR management needs to be completely turned over - Biggest need is to listen to the employees!!!!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementAppreciate your employees better and you'll have less turnover.

    Lack of structure

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Cary, NC

ProsFilled a void between jobs until I was able to find some that better suited my skill sets.

ConsPoor leadership. IT dictates to the BU. No adherence to dates and/or timelines. Good old boys club is in full effect. Wrong people in the wrong positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean house and get rid of the useless layers of management. Their poor and ineffective management styles are costing the company MILLIONS of dollars.

    Talented? Don't work here

District Manager (Current Employee) Raleigh, NC

ProsThe new President seems nice, but knows nothing about how to run this company

ConsI work in the corporate region, one of the company's best District Manager's went on vacation, came back, went out on illness and coincidentally did not have a job anymore. I was told about another District Manager that worked in Sanford that had a family illness and never came back. It seems like they treat the low performing talent the best and do everything they can to get rid of talent. My boss is an *** kissing corporate person who is dating the human resource manager, so there is nothing he can do wrong. Everyone at corp seems afraid of him and let him do whatever he wants.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper Management seems really nice but are completely unaware of why they are losing great talent, look no further than the person that leads the corporate area.

Managers Don't Care About Their Employees.. At Least Mine Didn't.

Store Sales Associate (Former Employee) Lincolnton, NC

ProsWorking third shift meant you always knew your hours
    Free fountain drinks
    $0.20 above minimum wage

ConsA lot of work for just one person
Management doesn't care for some of their employees
    Most managers have 'favorites'
Ended up in the hospital due to stress, and the management didn't seem to care at all, just about how it affected his schedule

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees with kindness and respect and you will get it back.

    Pantry is horrible.

Store Manager (Former Employee) Jacksonville, FL

ProsPay was OK buy hours worked is not worth it.

ConsLong hours one salary. Company does not care at all about their employees. See the salary managers as free labor. Not opportunity for advancement. After you are their for a few years you will be laid off for cheaper labor.

Advice to Senior ManagementActually care about your employees, they will work harder for you.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
