    No financial stability allowed!!!

    Lead Assistant Manager (Current Employee)

    ProsIt's a job, but not a career.

ConsEverything else. The pay sucks the hours suck they hire to many people for low pay then force them to work under 28 hours, so turn around is extremely high!!! They really don't care about there employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementRaise salaries and limit part time employees. Focus on full time people who what to work. Mapco pays $11.50 to start kangaroo pay $7.25 to start then pretty much no raises.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

It was a roller coaster ride.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Raleigh, NC

ProsThe best part was the quality friends I met who were committed to making the company a success. They worked very hard.

ConsThe company leadership could not make a decision and stick with it. The financial condition of the company limited options.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake better decisions so that your employees have more confidence in the future.

    TERRIBLE

    Store Manager (Former Employee)
    Mays Chapel, MD

Prosalways hiring. Benefits offered, including paid time off.

ConsNo management consistency. No support. Extra human feats required.

Too many negative personalities and too much interdepartmental conflict.

    Senior BSA (Former Employee)
    Cary, NC

ProsA patriotic company that proudly supports our troops. The company has great brand recognition and fuel prices

ConsProjects are never ending and there is tremendous chaos. Chaos is due to people being in the wrong position or having been in the same position so long that change is viewed as a threat. Many good employees left the company because there was no career growth or management support.

Advice to Senior ManagementShuffle jobs and consolidate corporate operations. The two sites function as separate companies which results in the never ending projects and chaos.

Do not seem to really care about employees only the bottom line which is dictated by dissociated upper management.

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)
    Charlotte, NC

ProsThe best reason to work here is to make relationships with your customers. Once cullivated they can make it easier to work under the torturious and dangerous conditions.

ConsLong, hard hours with constant exposure to annoying noise levels, no restroom breaks, no structured meal breaks on eight hour or more shifts, insistance on constant relentless cleaning of surfaces that are dusty and dirty within hours even though you are constantly barraged with customers. Working alone with little to no assistance.
They expect perfection in adversarial conditions with very low salary's. For instance $8.90 after three us years of outstanding customer service and top sales for the location.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to top performers, not just untrained, cynical and childish behaving store management. It seems that those who complain the loudest and brownose the most are the only employees who are listened to.

Also, develop challenges and concrete incentives for employees wanting to excel. After mentioning and inquiring many times, the only way to make an upward move is as mentioned above. I need a career and monetary challenge and there is absolutely none available to me.

    Unhappy former employee

    District Manager (Former Employee)
    Charleston, SC

ProsDecent pay. Some good people to work with.

ConsShort term thinking dominates the company. They keep making a one size fits all for corporate decisions. The decision makers are not held responsilble. Store and district staff are blamed. There is a distinct adversarial relationship between the office and the field. Region Directors are generally better at politics than actual operations.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the field sometime. Stop running good people off.

    In the trenches

    Assistant Manager (Current Employee)
    Palm Bay, FL

ProsThey offered employment when I was laid off from my previous employer (in sales).

ConsTakes over your life: constant schedule changes, poor communication starting from corporate and within each store, started a training system but still no continuity from store to store, insurance is sub-standard requiring the pay of $1500 out of pocket- on top of rather high weekly premiums- before paying for even a doctor visit (which is difficult when working for less than $10 per hour!)

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your act together before you sink the whole ship! We need to become more competitive or we will all lose out.

Very stressful ,deals with different kinds of customer that has attitudes. not enough training, no breaks.

    Sales Associate/Cashier (Current Employee)
    Jacksonville, FL

ProsThey pay you minimum compare to the other companies ($8), fast paced environment, other co workers treat you right, longer hours, free drinks.

ConsVery stressful ,deals with different kinds of customer that has attitudes. not enough training, no breaks, you have to multi task to have your lunch break and to ring the customer, its so hard to learn because they don't train you well so basically you have to work for 9 years before you will learn everything about your duties.

Advice to Senior ManagementEven the manager doesn't know what his doing sometimes, take time to train the employee first before letting them work alone so that the customer will not shout at their face when they make mistake!
