financially rewarding and chill place to work

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsAs FTE employee, awesome benefits and perks.

ConsToo many young (inexperienced) people in management positions; no succession plans in place for people that excel. Too many talented people have left the company and current strong performers are taken for granted.

Advice to Senior ManagementTap into the versatility employees offer and groom current high performers for their next adventure within the company.

Young and growing with leadership missteps

Marketing Analyst (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat learning experience and nice and smart coworkers

ConsMid-level Management are young so they are also trying to learn how to be good managers. Some are great individuals but terrible leaders. Culture is quite cliquey.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more guidance and leadership.

    Really Smart People. Lacking Direction

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsThe people at the company are amazing. This is a place full of smart, cool and friendly people who are honestly trying to do great work and build amazing products. If you don't want to always be the smartest person in the room, this could be a good place for you.

ConsThe leadership team is young, passionate and inexperienced. Hence they tend to make decisions about the direction of the company without necessarily thinking them through. Once a decision is made, they go all in - investing time, money and people into whatever the latest new initiative is. Then, when the going gets tougher than expected, they tend to completely abort the effort, laying waste to people's effort, time, work, and sometimes jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you make strategy decisions, develop plans A, B and C. That way when things don't go as expected you can avoid a lot of panic and drama.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Good Experience.

--- (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsDue to it being a growing company, there are opportunities for some (but not all) people. The HR team works hard to develop programs to make the environment and the organization as pleasant to work at as possible (and is successful). The kitchen is stocked with tasty goodies-- many chosen with feedback from teh employees.

ConsUnfortunately there is no talent development plan for the remainder of employees.

At times the strategy is haphazard, with work and projects being cancelled due to reasons that possibly could have been foreseen.

A good starting block, but a fairly quick dead-end

Consumer Sales (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsThere are fun perks, swag, food in the kitchen, young energetic atmosphere.

ConsFailure in communication from management to staff level. Very few opportunities to advance within company. No attempt to retain veteran employees once reaching a glass ceiling or earning/responsibility. Financial goal figures seem to be a bit far fetched with no real strategy in place to support forecasted gains.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your staffs concerns and make changes instead of asking everyone to "drink the kool-aid."

Great place to start, however you hit a 2 year wall.

Career Services Manager (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsPros: Great benefits; if you are in sales, you have the ability to make a decent amount of money; they are pretty good about time off; internet is open; no cubicles; kitchen is stocked with snacks/ drinks; generally a good atmosphere to work in.

ConsNo leadership; no opportunities to grow; unfair practices in terms of promotion; monotonous work; moving away from the startup mentality; constantly taking things away (benefits, 401k, commissions, kitchen); always say they are going to do xyz and nothing ever gets done; business model is falling apart.

Advice to Senior ManagementTime for someone to take a leadership role at TheLadders.com.

Fun, but very stressful. Employees are treated great and fairly if not in sales.

Senior Account Executive (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat people, Ceo threw alot of celebration parties. Good benefits and salary.

ConsAs a rep, goals were unattainable. It is a 100% cold calling job. Favortism with reps.

    Disappointing

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsFree snacks & beverages, intelligent and fun co-workers.

ConsPolicies inconsistent between departments, preferential treatment of favorites, review procedure comparison and grading against dissimilar positions, lack of recognition to well deserving employees as well as too much recognition of others.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave reverse reviews from lower levels up. Begin listening to feedback. Incorporate more fairness in review processes. Develop consistent policies between departments.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
