Good position to gain real world operations experience at a luxury retail store

Seasonal Operations Assistant (Former Employee)
Walnut Creek, CA

I worked at Tiffany & Co. as a contractor for less than a year

ProsCompany placed a high emphasis on its customer service and treating its clients well, treated all employees with respect. There was easy access to store management (granted it was a smaller retail location). Operations professionals were some of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met, couldn't have asked to work for better people.

ConsSome of the sales professionals did not treat me with respect as a "Seasonal Operations Assistant". I was also unfortunately unable to garner duties with more responsibilities despite taking initiative with my tasks. I do not necessarily think I was adequately challenged at this position.

Advice to Senior ManagementPerhaps provide more of an opportunity to take on tasks with greater responsibility and accountability.

A professional, performance-driven workplace.

Sales Professional (Former Employee)
Roseville, CA

I worked at Tiffany & Co. as a contractor for less than a year

ProsEveryone I worked with was courteous and respectful. Excellent training program and monthly performance feedback from my leaders. Wonderful benefits!

ConsSeasonal fluctuations in sales and largely dependent on location.

Advice to Senior ManagementI started out as a seasonal sales professional, and was really interested in growing a career with the company. When my seasonal role ended, leaders made no effort to support my goals.

Excellent opportunity to move within the company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Tiffany & Co. full-time for more than 8 years

ProsThe benefits offered are among some of the best you can find. This tends to promote longevity in employee retention. The company genuinely cares about social responsibility and tries to incorporate this into all aspects of the business. The NYC Corporate headquarters is a beautiful facility in a great neighborhood; a fun location to work in.

ConsThere is excessive bureaucracy in all areas of the company. Certain locations (aside from Manhattan) tend to be looked down upon from the rest of the company. The employees are treated differently and often times unfairly in these locations. Employees are overworked with little recognition in return.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere seems to be a very large disconnect with Sr. Management's awareness of middle Management practices.

Some months are better than others

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Tiffany & Co. full-time for more than 3 years

ProsDiscount, commission, benefits, easy to grow in the company, meeting and working with cool people.

ConsPressure to make sales goals. You will be fired (from certain locations) if you do not meet your sales goal.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore selling incentives would be nice. Better training for new employees is a must. Also, when at all possible you should promote from within. When sales professionals are training the new assistant manager in basic tasks, that is unacceptable.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Much like a diamond, the experience was multifaceted.

Sales Professional (Former Employee)
Boston, MA

I worked at Tiffany & Co. full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe product is beautiful. The vision of the founder Mr. Tiffany was meant to carry throughout the years, making the jewlery timeless. The quest for excellence is admirable.

ConsThe sales plans/quotas are taken very seriously. If you do not achieve your sales plans you will be put on warning/advisory. The hours in retail can be long and weekends are a must.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake the sales floor an even playing field by not advocating favoritism.

Great for experienced retail professionals.

Seasonal Sales Associate (Former Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I worked at Tiffany & Co. full-time for less than a year

ProsThe management was very nice and I got along with them, more so than my peer co-workers

ConsNot the best environment for someone who has never worked retail before good for someone who has. I only say this because training is done via computer.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide feedback and conversations with training new staff.
