    Pros

    Team work. Casual office environment.

    Cons

Red tape in order to get anything decided on. Decision depends on a small few.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay to hire good people. We would all be happier and more productive with more staff.

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is very large, and as a result, is resilient to most economic downturns. The benefits packages are standard for most larger companies as are the salaries. There are many opportunities to acquire extra pay through overtime, and occasional incentives for increased production beyond the yearly bonuses. The overtime is optional which means that there is a very fair balance between work and life but if you choose to participate, you can make large sums of extra money. There are always new initiatives for employee satisfaction to increase morale in this department.

    Company (not department specific) Perks:
    On campus gym
    Game/Break room
    Lots of friendly people
    Holiday celebration contests/parties

    Cons

The work is monotonous and will largely go without any type of accolade. Because there are employees that have been here for a while and plan on staying around, there is slim to no chance of upward promotion. The promotions are, as far as can be discerned, not based on any objective data but rather seem to be handed out in terms of year of service or at managers subjective discretion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Architecture Specific: When implementing large scale updates to the product, allow time for employees to fully finish what they need to before implementing another. The backlog of outdated work will only hurt the company in the end.

Allow lower level employees to experience more of the company operations outside of the office environment.

I have been working at Toll Brothers

    Pros

Good corporate training structure, if you are assigned to a good sales manager or two then you will be fine. Otherwise you will be given enough rope to hang yourself due to inexperience.

    Cons

Major downsizing due to real estate market, lack of long term opportunities. Construction is totally male-dominated and resistant to sales input and requests unless you have a buddy-buddy relationship with the PMs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Foster a better relationship between sales and construction.

I have been working at Toll Brothers

    Pros

The department that I work in is understanding of family first. This is very important for someone such as myself that has young, school aged children.

    Cons

Management, management and management. Upper management needs to understand the effects of technology on the business they manage. This is 2008 and we do not use pencil and paper anymore. They need to start respecting our jobs more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start respecting the people that keep the company running and keep up with new advances in technology in the field.

    Pros

I can definitely say that their benefits are better than other companies for sure. There are some perks for working there. We can get employee discounts for various things. They have flexible hours, which is a bonus.

    Cons

Long hours and untrained HR staff when it comes to dealing with employee issues. Some staff are required to stay extra hours for the Monday night meetings which are unpaid.

I have been working at Toll Brothers

    Pros

Toll gives you a great experience in learning all multifaceted task in the real estate industry. Project Managers are responsible for budgets, contracts, sales, marketing, ad customer satisfaction for their respective community. So the experience you gain is invaluable for your future.

    Cons

With that experience comes a price. You will be expected to work 60+ hours a week even though that is not said to you directly. With the reporting that Toll requires and with today's market of being lean in the field, doing more reporting , and more micro managing it makes it difficult to be effective in your job on a consistent basis. Also when I was hired over 10 years ago it was about moving up in the company and had a nice competitive spirit. With this down turn in the economy, it seems that Toll has lost some of the positive reinforcement that they use to preach in the past. Now it is about survival and get it done with more critiquing than, getting a pat on the back from time to time. (Mind you this is on a Division Level and not necessarily on a national level)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to be in more sync and together on a division level instead of individuals. Need to recognize and praise their employees, and be more of a positive reinforcement . Need to realize the employees you have work harder and like to come to work if they feel like they are more part of the process as a whole than just an employee.
