    I worked at Tony Roma's part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    I was given a flexible schedule and the training was good. The other employees were usually pretty helpful and the upper level management was around more than I would have expected.

    Cons

    Servers had to do work that often took away from the guests' experience (like prepping our own salads and desserts to order). Quite often, I had to work split shifts and lived to far away to go home or to do anything in between.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The employee discount program is almost useless to be honest.

    Pros

    We made some great food, good hours and decent pay. There was room for advancement plus locations around the world.

    Cons

    I worked at a franchise store as opposed to a corporate store so things were a lot different than they would have been in a corporate store.

    The workload is balanced and varied.

    It is a company looking to make a turnaround so there are plenty of challenges

    Give everyone ownership of their process and invite them to bring ideas to the table. I appreciated the opportunities that I got for this.

    Pros

    Tony Roma's is a long-time, well-established restaurant chain. Franchise stores are allowed some leeway when it comes to menu options.

    Cons

    Franchise stores do not follow corporate guidelines when it comes to compensation.

    Franchise owners should be held to follow the same salary & benefits package as corporate.

    Pros

    There are few late nights, the people you work with are dedicated for the most part. Senior and upper level management change about every two years so be ready for major changes to your mission at any given time.

    Cons

    constant changes with no measurable outcomes, weak upper management lacking a good vision for the future, downsizing locations after bankruptcy (fewer promotions)

    do more to make bonus possible in smaller restaurants, larger restaurants bonus quadrouple smaller restaurants and you dont get a say in what store your in

    the pay is good on a busy night
    on a slow night the pay sucks because money you receive is basically commission

    Cons

    Can get stressful
    management can get cranky because they work 10+ hours a day
