    - overworked, small teams, no work/life balance, FTE on vacation needed to bring laptops
    - management likes to talk down on employees, low morale in teams.
    - not so innovative technology for a global company, data center was small and ran hot.
    - Have to wear many hats even primary job is different
    - no growth for the mind and $$
    - lays off are present too
    - Lead Windows Administrator was very difficult to work with: ( abrasive attitude, Intimidating)

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better and don't run a " too lean" shop. Hire more people to cut down the stress load. Hire a new " Lead Windows Admin/Engineer !!!

    Pros

If you live in Orange County , CA Nice because behind Irvine Spectrum and located near freeways, shopping, dining, good area.
    Decent computer and consumer electronics.

    Cons

Company runs " lean " and individuals especially in IT wear many hats.
    Employees are unhappy and disgruntled
IT employees have to be on-call when on vacation. Need to bring laptop, broadband card, cannot vacation overseas. Management will disapprove.
Direct managers treat team members with disrespect.
No work and life balance at all. It's always work
IT Technology is poor coming from a global company like Toshiba
Server room is unorganized and below ITIL standards.
As a contractor, one will never know when can go permanent
Windows team is understaffed ( two ppl) and have to do too much work.
Too cheap to invest in technology that will make IT more productive and easier for staff
" Don't work there! " to anyone unless you are really desperate for a job.
Windows team lead is the epitome of someone " one can not work and co-exist with. "

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and make your teams larger. Don't be condescending and treat your team members with respect.

    Pros

    ??????
    still looking.
people are complacent so there is not a lot of pressure. certain individuals focus their energy on anything but being a manager. Why is this a Pro? Well, for one thing, this alleviates a lot of the pressure since these managers do all the work and is highly unlikely to share their jobs for fear of their own demise.

    Cons

    Condescending Managers
Managers who are worker bees rather than being managers.
Much like all corporate, information is power.
    Hiring process stinks
They don't promote the right people within
they bring in people who don't know what they are doing to "get a new perspective"
Some directors are as incompetent as the offices they sit in
we think we are a real company, but all it is a sales operation
    product people are not empowered.
directors and VPs who think they are managers
the only reason people work here now is because there are few opportunities out there.
as soon as the job market gets better, then can kiss all the good and loyal employees goodbye
never trust a smile from anyone.
99.99% are lemmings...no one dares to speak their minds for fear of being ridiculed in front of a group of your peers.
There is NEVER a moment that I feel good about this place because of the management
    WHAT A JOKE!

    Advice to Management

    get some real Management training!
don't have delusions of granduer....you are not keep the company a float with your greatness
listen to your employees when they log complaints about the managers
if you think you can do the job all by yourself, then fire everyone and start over
your intentions are not better than your actions.

    Pros

Toshiba Japan engineers and manufactures some of the best products on the market. Tons of research and thought go into each and every product and they are not thrown together like other PC companies.

    Cons

No room for growth within the organization. Poor communication from Director level down to business unit managers who "actually" run the business. Incompetence in senior level managers bogging down the business with no focus on business at hand but only concerned with their own personal gain.

    Advice to Management

Hire VP, Directors and Senior Managers who have the ability to run the business. Cut out the individuals who do not add value to the company. Promote and reward individuals who outperform others within the company. Focus on products that people in the US want versus what Toshiba Japan wants to sell.

    Pros

Best health benefits ever. Competitive salary. Convenient location, right off the 405 freeway. Great cafeteria food and friendly cafeteria staff.

    Cons

Almost no opportunity for advancement especially if you are a woman. Human resources works for upper management and conflict resolution is not handled appropriately. Lack of resources is a common problem. Outdated technology prevents employees from being effective.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Make sure HR contacts more than just one reference for new hires. Invest in morale building for lower level employees since they do the day to day work. Don't ignore issues until they are serious problems.
