Dissatisfied

Analyst (Former Employee)
Mexico City (Mexico)

I worked at Towers Watson full-time for less than a year

ProsCompensations, the great oportunities the company offers once the leader of the LOB accepts to promote them

ConsThe leader of the LOB was too busy to realize how much work the analysts were doing and the way they feel with this situation

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

high pressure, chances for a few

Project Manager & Consultant (Current Employee)

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 5 years

ProsIf you work hard and you are in focus of management you will have a fast career, a lot of different work opportunities is a good chance to learn a lot, those who give a clear commitment get support in development opportunities

Conshigh pressure although the company is very healthy, those few at the top of the company have a high bonus when the normal employees have to suffer in bonus. The development program isn't structured. the management isn't able to say thank you to the employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe happy that your employees are highly loyal. Think about that the stakeholder are as important than the shareholder

The times are a changin!

Senior Consultant (Former Employee)
Reigate, England (UK)

I worked at Towers Watson full-time for more than 5 years

ProsVariety of work, flexibility to manage own work loads and good clients generally.

ConsTargets, targets and more targets combined with requirement to charge for everything, open brown nosing and open 'sucking up' to move ahead, lack of collaboration and competition with colleagues.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou lost the Watson Wyatt culture and sold your souls to rampant individualism, rewarding same and similar behaviours and suppressing difference. A good place to learn and then move on, but not a nice place to work and try make a difference in the finish.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 3 years

Proslot of research and knowledge in the organisation

Conslong hours, the employees are always wrong, managers are always right, make money/focus on sales rather then deliver quality.

Accomplished consulting firm with flexibility

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 8 years

ProsFlexible work arrangements possible
Working with smart people and established Fortune companies

ConsAfter merger, still trying to build a cohesive culture.
Slow to change

Advice to Senior ManagementBridge the gap between Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt associates. Recent initiatives are a good start and seems like progress is being made.

Not bad, but still many areas to improve

Analyst (Current Employee)

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time for less than a year

ProsFlexible hours. Somewhat challenging job. colleagues pleasant to be with. great for early career learning

Conssiloed practices. no clear incentive to stay for a long time unless you want to.

Advice to Senior Managementdoing a pretty good job given current conditions, but if want a drastic improvement, the company needs a overhaul. such as broadening the practices and focusing less on shareholders (which I think it's most difficult)

Great workplace experience, high pressure

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time

ProsGood exposure to a variety of projects, capacity to travel to work if willing, a good place to start a career and gain valuable business experience. Ability to reach high salary marks through actuarial exams very early in career if you are very dedicated

ConsWork/life balance has been quite poor. Company provided study time for actuarial exams has been hard to utilize.

Good starting company. Wouldn't stay much longer than that.

Compensation Analyst (Former Employee)
Toronto, ON (Canada)

I worked at Towers Watson as a contractor for less than a year

ProsFlexible hours. Great work life balance. Benefits are great, so I hear.

ConsPromised upward movement. They want current employees in this division to take a month of absents before offering full-time. This makes no sense! We are just going to find other jobs and you would have trained and developed our skills for no reason. They are based in the US and therefore do not respect the Canadian firms. The pay is awful. Unless you are full-time

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't take your employees, their skills and their loyalty for granted. You are leaving a bad taste in the mouth of good talent. I think I speak for all entry level employees for that matter.

Great bunch of passionate employees

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Towers Watson

ProsAt Towers Watson you will meet great people who are usually very interested in their job. They help you take accountancy exams.

ConsHours can be long and you are stil expected to perform to a high level when you are studying for your actuarial or accounting exams.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave a larger london office, increase opportunities for progressing quickly in your career and finally build a better brand.

A strong HR professional services firm but somewhat less focused since the merger in 2010

Senior Consultant (Former Employee)

I worked at Towers Watson full-time for more than 10 years

ProsCommitment to clients and client service; good combination of consulting and technology;

ConsSometimes tries to be too many things to too many clients. This can dilute the value and authority of the consulting offered.

Advice to Senior ManagementLack of growth is stagnating career potential. Decide what to invest in and then go all-in; half hearted investments do not pan out.
