Current Employee – been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great people - top quality associates who are highly engaged and take pride in their work.
Impressive book of business - many of the top Fortune 500 companies
Strong centralized support for intellectual capital development, senior leadership does a great job keeping an eye on the market and proactively acting on a changing benefits environment
Cons – Expectations of TW clients and Senior Management are high - this is a very fast paced environment and balancing work and life can sometimes be difficult (but not impossible). This job is not for everyone!
Advice to Senior Management – None

Former Employee – worked at Towers Watson full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – - Consulting practitioners are very experienced and knowledgeable in their technical field
- No ego's exist compared to other Big 4 firms
- Does not require the same travel demands as other Big 4 firms
Cons – Towers Watson is a relatively new public firm and is getting used to the demands of forecasting/reporting results to Wall Street. It is obvious that the culture has changed to ensuring selling and billable hours targets are achieved to ensure forecasted targets are met.

Current Employee – been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Flexibility, diversity of responsibility, open door policy
Cons – As is every other company, the benefits package is a consumer driving high deductible package. Not much room for internal advancement within my line of business.

Current Employee – been working at Towers Watson full-time for less than a year
Pros – Helpful colleagues, flexibility as far as work-life balance is concerned. Telecommuting from home is not a problem when needed. This really helps folks like me who has a family. Enough corporate activities organized by the HR. Overall a good place to work.
Cons – The health insurance the company offers is absolutely ridiculous. By the time you are done paying the high deductibles, the year is over and a new set of deductibles kick in. Not very good for folks with families, especially with small kids where you may have to see the doctor very often. And if you have a family member who has got an ongoing issue like asthma/allergy etc. you will be better off finding some other place to work.
Advice to Senior Management – Must offer better health insurance for folks living in the greater Philadelphia area.

Current Employee – been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The perks for working for a top tier firm include access to really great proprietary research and having interesting clients that offer a wide variety of challenges. The experience you'll get from TW is unlike any other firm.
Cons – With regard to the Retirement Practice, their focus is the long term growth of the actuarial practice. Growth opportunities are available, although I suspect there are fewer opportunities for thoughtful work over time as the nature of the business becomes a commodity. There is an acknowledgement that defined contribution and non-qualified plan work exists ,but isn't valued as a practice.
