I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Exposure to all different types of clients, industries, and work
    - Will not pigeon hole you into one field; have opportunities to do work in different lines of business
    - Great upper management, i.e., they care about your career progression, your work/life balance, etc.
    - Firm's brand and reputation in the HR consulting space
    - You learn something different from each different consultant and colleague you work with
    - Working on multiple projects at once - subjective opinion but keeps work interesting
    - Flexibility in schedule

    Cons

    - Cash compensation is fair, though should be better with the level of stress and responsibilities given. However, total rewards (comp + benefits + retirement) is great
    - Work / life balance can suffer at times. Often on-call around the clock. Though the trade off is the vast amount experience you get

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great inter-office camaraderie, typically nice people.

    Cons

Not alot of room for growth, administrative assistants do not get same flexible schedule as others. Not eligible for yearly bonuses. Actual job description is very vague, responsible for much more than typical administrative assistants. Work Life balance is promoted but not actually an option. Health insurance is awful and expensive especially for a single parent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop over working your employees, offer better and affordable health insurance. Also realize that most of the deliverables you send to your clients would not be able as put together and organized if not for your Administrative Assistant. Not to mention if not for your admin the invoicing and billing process would totally screwed up if not for your AA's! They deserve to get yearly bonuses and not just spot bonuses. They also deserve to have more flexible hours just like consultants and analysts.

Good people to work with & long hours

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good learning experience. Great leaders & knowledge to learn & grow

    Cons

Promotions are entirely based on "Perceptions" - doesn't matter how good of a reviews you get. Your boss needs to be somehow impressed. A little partiality also exists in the system that is often not addressed by senior management due to lack of time/interest.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please question why some people are promoted without meeting goals & others not promoted even after meeting goals. The idea of getting reviews is to remove "Bias" & be fair to all employees. Don't go by one mans assessment of all associates - question & probe.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Smartest people in the industry.

    Cons

Company is to top heavy and does not take care of the little people. Salaries are lower and hours are longer then other places.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone is not easily replaceable. Even the little people. Take care of the people or the reputation of a low paying sweat shop will deter good people from thinking of working there.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good support and exceptional business model. Winning new clients in the marketplace and providing good service and true value to clients. Great flexible work environment, good offices, strong benefits and good pay.

    Cons

Political infighting between lines of business and account directors. Good consultants are loaded up quickly and hiring occurs after new work is won, which means someone has to do more work than intended until hiring catches up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire in anticipation of growth despite the short term hit to productivity.

I have been working at Towers Watson as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

It is a global company with all of the HR subdivisions, so it's good for people that want to develop in the HR field. There is a friendly environment, nice people and career opportunities.

    Cons

A lot of work, responsibilities and expectations for an intern position. There is no coaching, mentoring nor a lot of learning opportunities. It is expected you know things even though it is an internship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No direct contact with upper management.
