I worked at Towers Watson full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Benefits
You work with the best talent
    Complex client projects
Ability to offer clients great solutions through internal tools and different practice areas
Unlimited growth if you are a top performer

    Cons

    Hours during bust season
Much is expected of all client team members, you can be expected to be a Jack of all trades
Leadership seem to be managing the stock price and not the employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out and visit the different offices, meet the consultants who are doing the great client work.

I worked at Towers Watson full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Smart workforce - Everyone knows what they are doing
Engaging work for analysts - Interesting and technical work especially if you are on a team which gets consistent special projects.

    Cons

    - Sometimes it can be hard to move up quickly. Seems like you are stuck in the same position
    - New study program is a bit irritating. It was easier to get materials and permissions earlier, now the process is more formal and involves a lot of red tape.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to make sure that senior analysts have some engaging work and some sense of moving up.

    Former Employee - Actuarial Intern
    Former Employee - Actuarial Intern

I worked at Towers Watson as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Competitive pay, paid study time, very supportive community within the office, hands on experience - great split between actual client work to get an idea of day to day tasks on the job as a starting analyst & the mock client entire valuation process which indicates what you would be doing on a more long term basis with the company as a senior consultant

    Cons

Very specific to the retirement field - does not provide a good breath of what other types of actuaries do within the company if you are a graduating student trying to determine what field of actuarial you want to pursue most

    Pros

Great learning environment (e.g. great work ethics, great training, etc)

    Cons

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Work/life balance, care about strategy and research, careful about work quality, well known and positive brand among clients and business in general

    Cons

Limited in how much positive impact you can have on your clients business (this is an overall industry challenge), Towers Watson rewards CEO and top execs extremely well over many years (ie options and a soaring stock price have made top execs very wealthy) but this does NOT get shared even down to the Exec/Pricipal level (Level 50)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back Employee Stock Purchase Plan and other programs that share the wealth with those who are winning and leading client work
