Former Intern - Anonymous Intern in Lake Forest, CA

I worked at Toyota as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The associates were committed to working efficiently and in harmony. Most people were professional and respectful. Was able to learn more about logistics and Toyota's Kaizen (continuous improvement) philosophy.

    Cons

Due to it being at the port, the surroundings are very industrial so if you don't want to see that all the time then it might not be the place for you. Due to TLS Long Beach being a union facility, you are not allowed to actually work on any of the cars that come into your shop that you help supervise.

    Pros

Many areas of training. Good team environment and support.

    Cons

Hard to gain Full Time direct hire position. Contract company has many problems and not providing health insurance.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to continue to use contract companies so heavily please regulate them better. There seems to be no place to voice my problems or concerns. It doesn't seem to be my managers responsibility...

    Pros

Great atmosphere and your coworkers are pretty great for the most part. If you're an independent worker you'll succeed here as long as you follow guidelines on what you're supposed to do throughout the day. Bosses are extremely nice and you never feel like you're being watched at all times.

    Cons

Can get boring at times and I wish there was room for improvement.

I believe pay could be more evenly divided since the team makes the dream in this type of business! Overall great company to work for! Customers love their Toyotas and their staff :) !

    Advice to Management

I would recommended monthly meeting with individual employees to speak on anything that comes to the employee's mind, in regard's to achieving success through all aspects in the dealership!
