    Pros

Management always gives the tools to be successful. Fun and fast paced environment. Multiple areas of advancement.

    Cons

Senior Management overlooks work / life balance at times, even out of peak holiday season.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that with the amazing job done with internal hiring, Senior Management cannot lose sight on the lifeblood of the organization. Department Managers, Supervisors and team members are much more productive when the right balance with their personal life is in good standing.

    Pros

The staff was all very friendly, and the managers we also very easy going.

    Cons

Things got pretty hectic around the holidays, as to be expected, but shifts and hours changed accordingly. Around Christmas your day job might become a night job too.

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the community within the store. It was very easy to bond with other employees and customers. This made the hard days easier to get through knowing that you had a team working with you. There were a lot of repeat customers and their understanding even when they had an issue made the more difficult customer situations easier to handle. If you want to learn about how retail/ retail management works, this is a great place to start. There is a lot of cross training available IF you're willing to put the work in. I started as a part-time employee and was promoted to a supervisor so there is room for advancement.

    Cons

It's retail so the hours are going to be inconsistent and at times difficult. Even if you say that you can't work weekends they will still try and schedule you anyways to see if you're really available. Also if you're joining the team as a seasonal hire, unless you are a n A+ employee do not expect to have your position transition into regular part-time. For most stores the usual amount of employees range between 30 and 50 depending on the size, etc. During the holiday season typically more that 100 additional people are hired. Don't expect great pay it retail. They pay over minimum wage but just barely for part-time employees (most times regardless of experience). They do give raises, they're not a lot but they do reflect your performance! Also, I did enjoy the community aspect but watch out for catty behavior. Again it's retail so this is to be expected. I've experienced it from people in all levels of the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advise would be to do a better job of following through with conversations and actions. I understand that within a large corporation middle management is in a difficult position. They have to look at what upper management wants and then facilitate the stores following through. To get the results that are asked for it is usually impossible to do things they way upper management expects, they are too far removed and the expectations do not usually line up with real life environments. With that said, I feel like it was almost expected for district managers to tell employees what they wanted to hear to get the most productivity out of them. I witnessed many promises that were not followed through with. They would constantly throw a store's management team under the bus when corporate executives would be in a store and upset because plans were not carried out by the book, even though the district manger told the store to do it that way. I got to work with two different district managers and both behaved in the same manner. I don't have anything against either of them and found them reasonable to work with most of the time.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You make slightly above minimum wage , but the work is super easy like a minimum wage job. Fun people, laid back culture and they are super flexible around your scheduling (as long as you are not seasonal or if you made it past seasonal and got kept on)

    Cons

Standing up the whole time, if it's during the season you will not get holidays off and can't use your vacation time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think you all should consider small commissions or bonuses maybe like 5$ a credit card sign up since you expect and want us to upsell
