I have been working at Travelers Companies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Vacation time is more then most offer. That's about the only pro.

    Cons

Employees get no respect. They are micro managed, talked down too, overloaded and treated like a number. No matter how hard you work or how many hours you put in your told "you have to work more nights and weekends". There is ZERO work/life balance. Upper management thrives on the negative. Compliments and pay increases are obsolete. Unless you're part of the "clique" don't expect to go anywhere in the company. The company runs on brown nosers and gossip. If your not a part of that then your an outcast and overlooked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house. This place needs an overhaul. All upper mgmt has a chip on their shoulders and act holier then thou. NEWSFLASH: This is 2014, respect the employees and understand the job. Be available for your employees. Foster a career path. Don't pick and choose based on favoritism. You are letting go of too many stellar employees because of lack of respect, empathy and caring. Understand and implement work/life balance.

I have been working at Travelers Companies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company has decent benefits (for which you pay for).

    Cons

Horrible management. The absolute worst. Management consists of women with no children and/or no husbands completely disconnected from women trying to work and raise families. Bunch of bullies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with the employees and not against them. Stop bullying and harassing people all day every day. Offer help and support. Hire adequate staff. Stop trying to squeeze people until they explode from the overwhelming case and workload.

    Pros

    Cons

unbalanced and heavy caseload, unrealistic expectation for claim handling, "improvements" to computer systems but just adds time and extra work, no career advancement.

    I worked at Travelers Companies

    Pros

Salary was very good but that is about it.

    Cons

Terrible, no idea of the accounting principals. I quit after a month and when I resigned the manager said tell me your number. I left for a lower paying job. Total insanity.

I worked at Travelers Companies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Financial stability. The company had been a very good company to work for a number of years ago.

    Cons

The company treats aging workforce poorly and is driving people out (no doubt with HR approval) at a rapid rate by making unrealistic expectations, "action plans", and micro-managing techniques. Loss Control upper management is incompetent, and getting worse in recent years. The harder you worked, the less appreciated you were.

The company provides no work-life balance, no company outings, celebrations, etc....are non-existent.

Stay away from this company unless you are desperate for a job!

    Scenic Downtown Spokane.

    Cons

    Depressing environment!
    Everyone was in a clique!
    Metrics were COMPLETELY unrealistic!
Even though QUALITY was supposed to be the main emphasis, QUANTITY outweighed every time!
Managers had childish agendas & whispered amongst themselves constantly!
    Employees are just numbers.

    Pros

Location was good. Could work from home if ill or sick child in some areas.

    Cons

Overall poor leadership skills, back stabbing, would throw employees "under the bus" , took credit for your work, constantly stressed, overworked, worked late hours b/c management would track who's online at 11:00 at night. Many folks seemed nervous, ill-at-ease, worried, stressed in general a bad environment that breeds bad behavior.
