    Pros

The Operations schedule is great if you don't mind working 12 hours 3 days one week and 4 days the next.

    Cons

Most people hired are hired as contractors through their agency. Everyone is pretty much a number. If you don't produce int he first 90 days or are not "liked" expect to get the phone call stating "We don;t need you anymore", no explanation given. The supervisor's and upper management rule through a climate of fear. Each shift does it's own thing - no consistency across shifts. The pay is not OK but it at least pays the bills. The training program is a joke. Documentation is sparse and vague.

    Advice to Management

Put a documentation team together to fix the documentation issues. Make all shifts handle operations the same way. Put a real training program in place and track each employee's progress. Teach the leads on how to be better leads instead of "capos".

    Pros

Nice friendly place to work. Employees care about the company and want to do the right thing.

    Cons

Software runs most companies. TriQuint management seems fine running core aspects of the business using Excel spreadsheets, Access 97, and home-grown, non--integrated databases as long as they get the information they need.

    Advice to Management

Design wins require more than R&D spending. In order to be first to market you need solid, capable systems to support your people. TriQuint must invest in better execution and delivery systems in order to compete in fast moving global markets. You can't grow the business by hiring people to manually do work that should be automated using computers. Dump the spreadsheets and departmental point solutions and invest globally.

    Pros

Great benefits.(ESPP, 401k vested immediately, Sabbatical, PTO)

    Cons

Since the influx of former ST Micro personnel replacing or placed as managers to current staff, the company had declined in terms of quality first production but emphasis is quantity that have resulted in many times scraps. The stock price then was at $15 when these people came in. What have they done to date is the question?

    Advice to Management

Stop the practice of nepotism and hiring friends first. Too many managers doing nothing.

    Pros

    Very flexible. Normally empowers employees.

    Cons

    Very poor communication between departments.

    Advice to Management

The concept of "doing what it takes" for project execution should include staying with the plan. Waiting until the last minute to get something out the door is poor planning which will hurt in the long term.

    Pros

The design teams are good. Relaxed work atmosphere.

    Cons

Poor management oversight. No clear strategy to beat competitor either on performance or cost.

    Advice to Management

If you don't want to lead then make room for someone who wants to.

    Pros

The guys in the trenches are great. In my thirty years working for this wafer fab I can count on one hand all the really poor co-workers and still have fingers left. The relaxed work environment is a big plus. Never had any problem with modest expenses related to my job.

    Cons

In the last fifteen years at this company, I've created (mostly alone) several of the MES innovations in place at this company. In 2006 I received the President's award for my MES system that had saved the company five million dollars. In the last two years, the company has brought in a team of more than ten workers to take over what I used to support. Now in the twilight of my career and life, I'm downsized. So the biggest "Con" is that there is not the least amount of loyalty to employees at this company.

    Advice to Management

Tell your employees often that they are expendable. Encourage them to make plans for when they get dumped.

    Pros

The benefits are good and the people are great to work with. Flexible schedules are available for Exempt employees.

    Cons

Poor decision making has created numerous issues. No possibility for advancement especially for a company this size. Upper management sees people as expendable and easily replaced

    Advice to Management

Talk to your personnel below middle management - we actually have good ideas and a better understanding of the business than your management teams.

    Pros

good people very bright and those that have worked it appreciate the benefits. Good pay and vacation.

    Cons

New management is all Intel folks and they don't seem to know the culture. And they don't know the technology at all, the operations director has only a high school diploma what's all that about!

    Advice to Management

It appears that their is a huge Intel buddy system and some of them are in positions with no formal education or knowledge of equipment or process. They brought in a new operations vice president that barely speaks English and they don't spend their resources on tool upgrades. The tools are outdated and the folks on the floor are getting almost no training. In the long run we need better tools and less scrap that is not being reported accurately to the investors.
