    I worked at True Value

    Pros

Good Benefits. For a non downtown office the location is ok as it is right on the Blue Line. Relaxed work environment

    Cons

Generation gap between employees, a lot of people at the tail end of careers and a lot at the beginning, no middle ground. The same applies to salaries. Very limited career opportunities after 2 years.

I worked at True Value full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits, flexible work schedule

    Cons

I was written up for raising my voice (out of frustration)to a manager, however, when a manager yelled and screamed at me (supposedly out of frustration) and I complained about it, I was written up. My supervisor said it was my fault that she yelled at me and therefore justified. Double standard. Twice during this disciplinary action, I had to ask my supervisor to lower his voice (he has a history of yelling at associates under him). This is common practice at the Springfield, OR RDC as upper management turns a blind eye to how their department managers run there associates. I was terminated on the grounds that I create a negative environment. How negative is it when managers and supervisors are allowed to yell and belittle their crew on a daily basis, as well as talk negatively about an associate to other associates. The Outbound Manager routinely told me about others' production rates, personal problems, disciplinary problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up! Find out what is going on in your RDC. Knock down the silos and get involved in how supervisors treat their employees.

I have been working at True Value

    Pros

It is the only reputable millwork company in the greater Greensboro area. It is a relatively well respected and established business amongst it's few competitors.

    Cons

Physical work environment and infrastructure outdated, counterproductive and unprofessional. Disrespect and disregard for employee efforts and achievements. Employee compensation is not adjusted for inflation/current cost of living. Comprehensive negative atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unfortunately, it is an undeniable truth that no constructive criticism, advice, or suggestion will be heeded by the arrogant and incredulous individuals that run this company. It is my hope that a potential candidate for future employment with this business, considers the regrettable aforementioned statements and avoids the personal and professional cost and capitulation that I have endured as an employee.

    I worked at True Value

    Pros

Respectful of their associates, for the most part.

    Cons

DTV is not working. It's not driving retail sales or wholesale purchases through the company. The model is wrong.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are a wholesale hardware supplier, owned by a retailer group. Stop thinking of yourself as a retailer. You are a coop. Lyle, True Value is not your Sears legacy!
