I have been working at Turner Construction full-time

    Pros

Best Place to launch a career, with top notch training.

    Cons

Slow mid level movement, very corporate. Change is slow. Work/Life Balance is openly referred to as a joke, but this pertains to the industry all-together, not just Turner.

    Pros

Access to incredible projects and wide breadth of regions, markets, and construction practices. Dedicated to innovation, even at their enormous scale.

    Cons

Regions outside of NYC seen as minor league or second rate. Mid-level staff not as dedicated to technology and innovation as execs. Difficulty identifying and recruiting early career talent

I worked at Turner Construction full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great projects A lot of experience can be gained really quickly and a great reputation in the construction industry

    Cons

Slow growth. You have to know someone in the company in order to be paid well in the company. No structure in place for lower level employees A lot of downtime when it's not busy and you end up doing menial things in order to keep busy BIM and Lean are more of a brand initiative, as opposed to any actual agenda to be innovative in the NY business unit

    Advice to Management

Motivate top talent. You can't expect top talent to stay in the company with the compensation that is offered. You cannot possibly have a situation, in which top talent gets promoted from level 1 to level 2 and ends up making less money than a level 1 with overtime.

I have been working at Turner Construction full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Challenging, exciting, cutting edge projects. Largest and best (in my humble opinion) general contractor in the northwest. Always innovative and looking for the next best way to complete the job.

    Cons

Middle management suck ups! If your not "in" the click, you'll be overlooked. Serous lack of experience with support (engineers) staff. High turnover with jr. engineers. Senior engineers will throw you "under the bus" to advance their careers.

I have been working at Turner Construction full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Overall great company, Senior Management wants to do the right thing. Majority of people are great work hard for the team success.

    Cons

A lot of clicks that focus on self advancement and not team success. Middle managers use positions for personal gain and ensure advancement is given to those within the click. Although preached all the time there is No real work life balance for most unless part of a click.

    Advice to Management

Monitor middle managers dept heads to ensure accurate reporting and inclusion and opportunities of and for all employees. Too many "Exclusive" clicks.

    Pros

Super Great Company to learn as a new college grad. Swim or sink working environment. Very helpful team willing to help you. Great resume builder

    Cons

When you are on the field, out of sight out of mind, promotion will be limited. Mediocre salary. You get 1 day notice before your new assignment so its stressful to adapt Jobs are usually understaffed so expect to wear multiple hats with one salary
