    Great company with great products!

Senior Director Engineering (Former Employee) Boca Raton, FL

ProsTyco successfully navigated the tedious and incredibly difficult process of integrating multiple (hundreds) of acquired technology and service businesses and is well on its way to delivery of highly featured and advanced security technology products to a global customer base. Tyco is a company to consider if you are looking for a global manufacturing, engineering or sales experience.

ConsBecause the company grew primarily by acquisition ( as opposed to organically ) there are still "seams" in the fabric that make little sense ( unless you understand how the seam got there in the first place ) and can be very frustrating with which to deal. On the other hand ... these are also opportunities for assertive and wise managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to work at finding ways of keeping your most experienced and capable talent working on the most strategically important projects. You have much work to do as the needs of the security solution buyer are growing faster than you can deliver.

    Tyco a reasonable employer

Order Administrator (Former Employee) Boca Raton, FL

ProsThey offer great benefits and opportuntiies for career advancement.

ConsManagers seem to have more rights than subordinates. Managers are supported by the HR department to the extent that subordinates feel that lodging a complaint about a manager serves no purpose other than to get them in trouble with said manager.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployee performance reviews are conducted annually by manager/supervisors. There needs to be some method employees can rate performance of managers so HR can improve the quality of their management team. When more than 50% of a department has had issues with a manager there needs to be some action (training or otherwise) to ensure that Vital Values are adhered to.

    Good company to work for

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsHighly skilled, professional people. Strong, diverse workforce. Great opportunities to work with people from around the globe. Serve markets with positive growth trends.

ConsPotential for "silo" behavior. Sometimes focus on cost causes imbalance in need to focus on growth. Very strong values. Good ethical company to work for.

Advice to Senior ManagementStay on current path. Increase focus on growth.

    Good job, but very monotonous

Emergency Dispatch Operator (Current Employee) Kansas City, MO

ProsGood pay, steady hours, occasional OT available, occasional opportunity to leave early, good benefits, professional management, nice environment

ConsIt's boring saying the same thing over and over again, leaving the same message on answering machines. People can be unpleasant to deal with on the phone if you don't have much experience in customer service, and even with experience, you'll still get some stinkers.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think the management does a good job.

Overall a pleasant place to work, limited job opportunities

Senior Director, Human Resources (Current Employee)

ProsEmployee friendly policies, caring management, excellent pay & benefits

ConsLeadership is in silos by business, difficult to navigate change or make improvements, very disjointed. Talent not consistently developed or opportunities shared. Values look great on paper, but inconsistently applied and employees are not always held accountable (some yes, some no).

Advice to Senior ManagementLead from a central point, establish consistent talent development strategies, hold people accountable for the company's values fairly.
