    I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time

    Pros

They have a café and there in no call time to meet.

    Cons

There is a great deal of backstabbing and the supervisors really have no clue how to supervise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your supervisors better or you will lose good employees. I voluntarily quit rather than deal with it anymore keeping in mind I got a free phone and the pay was not all that bad.

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There was a lot of areas to improve upon.

    Cons

The organization is not in a position to act upon the opportunities in front of them. Key roles are left un-empowered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Currently you have a several leadership positions filled with unqualified highly tenured individuals in key strategic roles because of the last organization change. You need to get rid of them and bring in more qualified individuals. Once you are able to capture real talent that brings in value please cultivate them by having them learn from all the consultants you have in house so they can migrate into those positions.

USC has a real opportunity to be a player in the market and agents who care, but you need to make the changes across the departments to provide some sense of business continuity.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Health insurance benefits kick in almost immediately, vacation and sick time kick in as soon as 90days are up, coworkers will usually be super friendly.

    Cons

Training was terrible. My trainer had it out for me and went as far as to report me to HR for things I didn't do. HR actually had to tell her to leave me alone because it was obvious that she was just trying to get my fired. The HR department at US Celluar tends to be Draconian in nature for no real reason.... A lot of people I worked with got fired for the silliest reasons I've ever heard and it was extremely terrible for morale. I actually got dinged a couple times for infractions but one was forgiven because the rule that I "broke" was changed about a month later.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better management. Don't allow team leads to sit around chatting with each other while CSRs are busting their butts on the phones. The micromanaging is pretty bad there as well... Also the whole "TOPS" system is a rip off and you should ask for a refund.

    I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time

    Pros

Most of the people were friendly and helpful but the management was terrible. The management beleived either you provide service their way or you weren't going to have a job! Even if you were being reconized for outstanding customer service

    Cons

the management and also the way you had to request off for things such as doc. appts., vacation or personal days...why give them if you cant use them when you need or want too?

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits, good co-workers, pay is good to fair. Previously worked in the call center and tech support where there was a lot of encouragement and great atmosphere it just doesn't translate over to the retail side.

    Cons

Management, Pushy sales, promotions favor women. Rushed training the expectations of if I can do it you can do it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No checks and balances for Management and store manager, it seems rules are made up depending on who you are.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a job with a paycheck. Good benefits insurance paid time off and tuition reimbursement. Great place for hard workers who enjoy cold calling.

    Cons

It makes me very sad to see what has happened over the last year. With the new billing system front line associates got hit hard with angry customers. Interruption in service without reason errors on accounts that took a long time to fix. Customers who needed a new phone often couldn't get one because of errors and system outage. Once the system became partially functioning associates were told this is it deal with it no excuses even though we were still unable to provide some services and solutions to customers that once wasn't a problem to do. The company use to focus on core values and doing the right thing for everyone. Take care of your people and they will take care of your customers. Now the moral is horrible associates told things like the new system did not affect them get over it by upper management. Jobs threatened if you don't hit quota. How can associates hit quota if the foot traffic in stores is no longer there due to a tarnished reputation their answer is for retail staff to spend their day cold calling small to medium businesses. It makes me very sad to see what has happened to the culture. Once one of the greatest companies to work for with excitement to go to work everyday now leads with fear out of desperation. Even new employees are scared to death by the time they get out of training from seeing what is happening around them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back your core values! Reload at the D.O. and learn to live by it again. Take care of your people bring back excitement and pride to the workplace. Happy employees make happy customers.

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are superb, hours are good

    Cons

A once great company to work for reduced to a miserable place for employment. Morale is incredibly low due to constantly being threatened that you will be fired if you do not make enough money for the company. Poor decisions by corporate leadership have led to a major decrease in customer base, yet it is blamed on in store and customer service center employees. The new computer system turned on last summer does not work, preventing employees from providing quality customer service, causing billing nightmares, and major disruptions in service. Research this companies quarterly financial reports for insight into the downward spiral this business is in. Also research their customer facebook posts to see what their customers think. Unless your taking a job as a corporate executive (where the pay is incredible, knowledge of business operations and lack of insight on how to motivate employees are required), then this is not a company you will want to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are not Verizon, you do not provide the service that they do, so you should not mimic their plan costs. Your computer system is a complete failure (yet no one responsible for purchasing it has been held accountable). Daily meetings and hundreds of emails a day tying your in store managers to their office computers is not how to run a customer service organization. Get your managers and yourselves off your butts and go out into your stores and call centers and actually work with your employees and customers for a change (and above all listen to what they are saying). The self serving "yes man" culture you have created to perpetuate your own personal praise is not working. You are quickly destroying this company.
