Cons – declining company performance
a lot of turn-over at the corporate office

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than a year
Pros – The people are friendly and the company seems to support a good work/life balance. Benefits are fair to good.
Cons – The pay is a little low. It is also difficult for people to move up or move to different positions. The system is very rigid and difficult to change. The "DO" seems to be guidelines for how associates should respect each other, but the company often does not follow the same guidelines in it's relationship with employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop using the DO as a club. Look at all the corporate policies and make the system treats every associate with respect.

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Salary is competitive and the benefits are great.
Cons – job security, often feel like any day could be your last day. There was a lot of favoritism in this call center. Job is repetitive and you get almost no training (i.e tech support specialist), you have to learn as you go. Lack of consistency from management.
Advice to Senior Management – Provide better training and systems so your employees can perform their jobs.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – As a Retail Wireless Consultant there is a good training program. The good Sales Managers that I had had did a good job helping me along, and I never felt like there was a manager that I couldnt talk to. Even though it's a retail schedule the work/life balance is very good, I never worked more than 40 hours/week (unless I requested to over holidays), and there's never any work to take home with you
Cons – Sold Chicago market to Sprint and closed the stores in Chicago. I never felt like there were a lot of opportunities to move up in the organization if I did not want to become a Sales Manager or work at a call center.
Advice to Senior Management – There has been a lot of change at U.S. Cellular over the time that I've been there and some of it has been difficult, make sure to keep communication open and honest like I feel like you do

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The company provides good benefits and salary. There are a lot of great people who work there. Good food during close!
Cons – There are unrealistic expectations in the Controller's Group. You have to drink a lot of Kool-Aid. There is no work/life balance.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Best call quality in their markets, extremely customer focused, used to have excellent employee/employer relationships, used to have an above standard commission structure, used to have excellent employee recognition.
Cons – Commission was cut in half, micro managed every employee, increased duties of sales consultants without increasing pay. In fact, they took commission away. Promotions were given to less qualified individuals.
Advice to Senior Management – Try understanding that without sales people, there would be no increased customer base. If you're going to cut pay, take it from the people who make 6 figures instead of people who work mostly on commission. Before implementing policies and regulations, try asking the employees who deal with customers on a daily basis how the new regulations or policies might impact them or customers.

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Great pay/ benefits package
Tons of training (can be a nuissance)
Amazing coworkers no matter what store
Cons – Many benefits are being removed (tuition reimbursement is being capped)
Claim to be different in the industry but are becoming just like competitors
Company expects sales on value that is not there
Not really a con per se but ejecting markets to sprint made many employees dissatisfied
Advice to Senior Management – Realize that there is no such thing as an ideal customer who will "buy" into the 5- step sales process. Reallocate funds into services that are actually needed such as international dialing.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
