    Pros

Very good pay at the retail sales level if you're in a good location. Very good job security if you hit your numbers.

    Cons

Management will overlook nearly any kind of bad behavior if you're hitting your numbers. They've been in a race to be like everyone else for a while.

    Advice to Management

get out of the way of your sales people, don't underestimate the power of good team morale and knowing the sales manager has the team's back instead of just marking things off of a checklist.

    Pros

Some really great people to work with and some teams have a better cultural experience. If you stick it out there is opportunities for advancement, but you must be willing to wait years and take a ton of overtime, ect to impress managers.

    Cons

Extremely poor management and leadership. Very understaffed. Managers do not empower people. Sink or swim environment where people are not trained and developed for success. The sad part is that there are pockets of great teams with U.S. Cellular that have happy employees and high morale. My regional group is generally disorganized and treats employees as disposable. The heap on work until you break and replace you with the next lowest paid, unqualified person.

    Advice to Management

Need to be willing to pay for more experienced workers in order to develop teams.

    Pros

Pay is the number one. For this area they do pay well.

    Cons

Ever since getting the iPhone they are just another wireless company

    Advice to Management

Learn to actually be Manager. Management is always changing while they keep promoting incompetent people to the next level.

The training was a little lack luster.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Don't give false hope.

    Pros

overtime, reasonable base-pay plus commission, company mission is ideal, flexibility, varying locations, new commission structure that made it easier for previously struggling employees

    Cons

understaffed, work/life balance may be hectic to maintain, compensation structure, favoritism instead of results based decisions, management doesn't actively listen to employees when it comes to problems or concerns, commission structure that punished overachievers

    Advice to Management

Actively listen to your employees voiced issues and concerns. Realize that diversity means more than sex, race, etc. just because two associates are on the same team does not mean that they will learn, understand, nor produce the same.

    Pros

Decent work life balance, good benefits, good people overall

    Cons

Identity issues, financial compass is off.

    Advice to Management

Be more present. Since new CEO came in the leadership has been in the shadows to the employees

    Pros

Good company to learn the wireless industry. They care about work/life balance and have pretty good benefits.

    Cons

You have to drink the Koolaid in order to fit in. After working there a couple years and not having started in an entry level position, I still felt like a bit of an outsider at meetings. Pay for the position compared some competitors was quite a bit lower.

    Pros

The people are great. Everyone is hard working and most are supportive of the culture (called the dynamic organization). Culture encourages and supports open and honest conflict resolution. The people are genuine, smart, and care about doing what is right.

    Cons

Leadership. Senior Leadership is disconnected from the people who actually make things happen. They are out of touch with what the people really need to do their jobs effectively. As such, they fail to fully support making the incremental changes needed to take USCC to the next level. Unfortunately, things are still done in silos and leadership is disconnected.

    Advice to Management

Take a hard look at who you have in leadership positions and really question whether or not they are truly leaders. There are too many ineffective leaders without the necessary oversight in place to ensure they are truly making USCC a better place to work and a better choice for customers.
