I have been working at UBM full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are looking for a global company experience and is a self-starter, this is the company to join. Benefits are quite equipped, I.e. medical, commute, 401k, stockshare option, some training. Promote respect, collaboration and customer-centricity internally and externally.

    Cons

Be prepare to adapt quickly to company changes and new goals with little resources and manpower to fulfill the management's target. Average salary is on the lower side from the median .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive management should pay more attention to value their staff and develop new responsibilities for them to advance in the company, not only vertically but also to broaden job opportunities across fields.

Former Employee - Project Manager in San Francisco, CA

I worked at UBM full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great medical benefits, good 401K match, and by far the best PTO policy I've seen at any large organization (vacation time, sick days, personal days, holidays, and a sabbatical every 7-years).

    Cons

"Open-environment" was difficult for those that need a quieter workspace. Not a lot of room for growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to stay in communication with staff at all levels. Stay open and honest with employees - once negativity and resentment starts it will continue to build.

    Pros

The people in the San Francisco office are super cool to work with. There is a lot of opportunity to share feedback and ensure your voice is heard.

    Cons

If you aren't in Sales or Marketing there is little room for growth within the company.

I worked at UBM full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great B2B company and willing to experiment with new ideas in a changing market.

    Cons

Not so much a con as a fact of life in media. Long hours, hard work, you need to train yourself and be prepared for high stress and high demands. Great people though at UBM.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While training is becoming more and more of an employee's own responsibility, it is important to understand that certain types of training are very difficult for an individual to access without support, time and some financial assistance. Tuition assistance does not usually cover certifications that are required in today's marketplace.
