I have been working at UPS full-time

    Pros

Benefit, pay, poor culture, poor treatment.

    Cons

Culture is poor, too much politics, did veered away from founder's vision of a great company by the model of take care of our customers and our people first. Now is production, production, production and threat everyone of their jobs daily.

I worked at UPS part-time for more than a year

    Pros

part time shift with good benefits

    Cons

Slave labor, non stop work. In hindsight I wish I never worked here. If I could travel back in time I would tell myself to never work here. My body still suffers from the work of unloading trailers. Low pay and the union takes a cut of it too. Unionized and still less pay then Fedex wich is non-union. Stoopid union fools.

I have been working at UPS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good people... nice pay and benefits.....Great training....Flexibility

    Cons

Stupid business rules that makes it harder to complete your yearly plan. Expect us to get business from companies that are not operating anymore... Yes this is correct ..... they are expecting from me to get at least $1500 a day from companies that are out of business. Senior Account managers declining accounts will be pushed down to you and they negatively impact your Plan. Account pushed down to me from senior which was already cancelled because of non payment and company is asking me to bring $700 a day from that account ....... absolutely ridiculous !!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees .... use common sense.....get rid of stupid business rules.

I have been working at UPS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Early in career, UPS exhibited a family type environment built on values and treating employees with respect....No longer the case

    Cons

UPS has lost it's identity. Opportunities to advance from entry to executive positions appear to be disappearing quickly.....Scott Davis as CEO while financially successful in the present has laid the foundation for monumental failure in the future, destroying Jim Casey's legacy

I worked at UPS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The salary and benefits are great and the quarterly bonuses are more competitive than any other LTL carrier. You receive a new car every year and can use the company gas card for personal use! You are backed by a good brand and various counterparts from other UPS divisions that constantly provide you leads and basically schedule all your sales calls for you. The local offices are close knit and much like a family.

    Cons

Where to begin....you make good money but you will work very hard for it. On the freight side, you are more of a specialist making appearances on joint sales calls with you UPS package counterpart reps than your own rep. There are not enough freight reps!! I was 1 rep working with 13 package reps covering the same area and was constantly pulled around on calls with them and problem resolution. We all got along great but be prepared to be overwhelmed by them and feel like you are beneath them because you work for the freight division. You are hired as an LTL rep but be prepared to have a quota for all divisions including technology, international, ground, TL, volume etc. The companies service is not reliable and no money is put into this division. If UPS did invest time and money into this division it would be unstoppable but I didn't see this in the years I worked there. UPS corp. could care less about the freight division. Package is their bread and butter and they have this division to bundle and compete with FedEx.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest money and time in this division! Provide adequate working environments. All the terminals are disgusting and run down. Hire more drivers, clerks and sale reps in order to succeed in this division.

I worked at UPS part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

holiday pay, part time hours, benefits, company merchandise

    Cons

takes extreme dedication to move up in most cases as in staying with the company in an entry level position for 10 plus years, they only promote from within, package handlers are treated the worst depending on your work location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

give quality and educated employees a better chance to move up

I worked at UPS part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Stability, consistant and paid time off.

    Cons

Pay is no longer top. They do not know how to manage people. And their dress code is so 1900ish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review what the market is doing today and maybe run with a few changes.

Current Employee - Accountant in Coppell, TX

I have been working at UPS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

A steady paycheck is about the only thing I see as a pro for the Coppell facility.

    Cons

Tenured employees make less than new employees and have a lot more work
They focus on things that have nothing to do with getting work done
This facility wants to bring in extra work but doesn't hire the number of people they need to do the work and pile it on the tenured employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to quit focusing on hiring kids with degrees that have no intention of staying at UPS and start taking care of those who do all the work who have proven their loyalty.

I have been working at UPS part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible hours, Monday thru Friday, decent benefits, works well for college students, no real repercussions to coming in late or calling off.

    Cons

Low pay, inconsistent income, hard work with no incentives, labor force has drugs and criminals, management doesn't understand what it's like to work, no upward mobility

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay and maybe you won't have such a horrible staff
