    Pros

URS legacy processes built the company into a highly successful organization.

    Cons

AECOM lack of leadership and poor HR vision (actually no vision) is resulting in high turnover of top talent and declining employee engagement.

    Advice to Management

Quit trying to fix everything by buying expensive and unproven technology. Listen to the experts from legacy URS who really know how to do this work.

    Pros

I get a paycheck to pay my bills. There is no other reason to work here anymore. There are no pros about working for an unethical company.

    Cons

The legacy AECOM offices take advantage of and completely screw over the legacy URS offices. See AECOM reviews for more reasons why you should run far and fast from this company.

    Advice to Management

URS no longer exists, there's nothing we can do about our new evil overlords except leave ASAP.

    Pros

I'm thinking hard; not coming up with any pros! Oh! At least I wasn't unemployed when I was there!

    Cons

Not a suitable place for IT professionals. This is a huge commercial construction firm. They do that well, I'm sure, but the problem is that management and HR do have a construction firm mentality in that they make no effort to retain their workers. An IT manager has no way to offer incentives to retain and motivate staff. At the end of a contract, everyone is let go, with no real effort to place the best team members elsewhere within the huge organization. They have no idea how hard it is, anyway to hire and retain intelligent, motivated individuals in the IT field.

    Advice to Management

Please switch back to your 100% blue collar work and workers, and outsource any and all IT work. You just have no idea how that field operates and what the expectations are.

    Cons

Less than 1 year, I was Fired without notice, but had previously only been given positive indications of technical work. Management and Designer had subpar performance. Work was not challenging. Makes me feel somewhat that we heading back to the 1800's where Industry Owners and Managers could be dictators, without care of ramifications to other human beings - employees in this case.

    Advice to Management

Do not allow supervisors to willy nilly, or based on emotions, to terminate employees with good performance. From reading other's reviews, this seems to be a pattern with this company. Be the company the marketing company has said it was - a company of integrity and honesty. As in any relationship, you need to have conversation with employees (provide warning) if you are unhappy with them in any manner. Wrongful Termination is against the law.

    Pros

Worked with great people and had great clients who were very satisfied with a job well done and a level of performance which exceeded their expectations. Pay and benefits were not bad but were being reduced.

    Cons

Too many to mention but here goes: 1. Upper management, especially office managers, who did nothing to promote business, stayed in their office, did the usual bean counting (calculating sold time), and had absolutely no client billable work. 2. Prior to the July 2014 AECOM acquisition, URS initiated the Great Place to Work scam which did nothing to increase employee morale and retention. Of course, if URS was being managed correctly to begin with it would not have been forced to be sold to a company with a lower employee rating score than URS! 3. Poor understanding of business development by upper management as well as peers within the office. Sharing of client marketing opportunities mostly a one way street (no cooperation) and lack of support from the office manager allowed this practice to continue. 4. Too much bureaucracy and red tape which hindered our business. Based on the AECOM employee reviews, expect this to continue and get worse. 5. Forced to use personal time for training, proposal preparation, project management and other non-billable tasks to meet office sold time goals. No time to decompress in the evening and weekends. 5. No spot or annual bonuses. Expect things to get worse after the AECOM infestation is complete in 2016. AECOM has invested significant funds to acquire and transform URS and the stock holders have to be kept happy. Guess where the cuts will come from to pay for this? There are plenty of other firms out there to continue your career. Don't overlook the small firms managed by people who know the importance of retaining a happy workforce and how to develop business.

    Advice to Management

No amount of advice is going to improve things for the people who are still there. Based on comments provided by current AECOM employees, things do not look good and it appears the company has an entrenched way of doing business and employee morale is not an important metric to monitor and improve.

    Pros

A paycheck. Personal Autonomy. Some good people across the company struggling to align vision and execution. Average benefits.

    Cons

No cultural identity. Fragmented execution, no cooperation across acquired businesses. Historically, no IT vision or rationalization of acquired IT portfolios resulting in extreme duplication and operational cost structure 4x too high. No leadership or budget for IT innovation. AECOM high-level acquistion communications were on target. Interactions at Director level and below were few and far between with no effort to build relationships. Lots of infighting at Director level for ownership of prized programs and resources, with very little communication to team members. Resulted in lack of detailed vision, no goals, no relationship building or team cohesion.

    Advice to Management

AECOM has a lot of work ahead running their playbook to fix this mess. AECOM Executive IT Management has a repeatable playbook for integrating acquired companies. URS is their largest acquisition by a factor of at least 10. They will be challenged to rationalize the IT portfolio and realize targeted cost reductions. Maybe in 5 years you'll be in a position to do some interesting IT projects. Enjoy the death march.

I got fired and was able to receive unemployment. After working on a project in a remote location for 60+ hours a week it was a relief to be let go.

    Cons

Inept management, shady hiring practices, high turnover
