    Pros

    Plenty of work to do

    Cons

Focus is on operations not support services so not a lot of upward mobility if not an engineer or architect

    Pros

Nice people, large company that's well known.

    Cons

Cyclical business, department management varies on valuing employees. Not enough margin to compensate fairly.

    Advice to Management

Do more with less employees. Lots of ineffeciences and low calibre people are sucking up resources where you can do more with less people, and pay people better for it.

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

Great diversity of work. I worked on so many different projects and gained valuable experience. There are also so many things you learn outside of your actual work to make you successful at your job.

    Cons

Really have to prove yourself starting out. As with other private companies, work is either too slow or really busy. Benefits could be better

    Advice to Management

Better raises based on performance instead of just on experience. Seems upper level managers are not held to the same accountability as lower level when projects get screwed up or don't meet deadlines.

    Pros

good benefits, good future for the company

    Cons

Disorganized management structure led to a senior editor being my supervisor. He was a man with zero interpersonal skill and took my well rounded skill sets as a threat. The company could have done better than fall victim to somebody's dysfunctional personality.

    Advice to Management

look and see what's going on..

    Pros

Absolutely great pay. Friendly people...on the surface. Great mix of people from every corner of the U.S. and other areas. Flexible hours, but very long mandatory hours.. Temps treated just as well (financially) as direct hires.

    Cons

Too high school gossipy to be really called professional; at least at the location I served. Favors employees with relatives or friends in company or who may provide bribes such as food, entertainment or similar. Lets favored employees take days off, play video games, make personal cell calls, take constant breaks and hand off menial duties they're required to perform to other, less favored employees. Allows favored employees to pad hours and sends less favored employees, who have actually completed the work, home.

    Advice to Management

Look to employees who actually complete the work for promotion, further training, and raises. Review those who have many hours with little results or are constantly behind, despite high hours reported. Value the hard workers, not the cute employees. Put a better system in place to voice complaints, because the clique system runs from employees through supervisors, at least to middle management and therefore a singular employee feels very uncomfortable about raising a question or submitting a complaint, knowing it will not be kept in confidence and reprisals will most likely result in termination. Maybe have some sensitivity courses for your entire workforce to have a more all inclusive atmosphere instead of one that excludes any employees.
