I worked at US Airways part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The flight benefits are really great(if you can get on and if there's an empty seat). The co-workers are really cool and fun to work with. Being around the airplanes is also interesting and enjoyable at times.

    Cons

Can be very stressful with trying to get the planes to depart on time and being around a loud and dangerous environment. Loading and unloading aircraft can be rough sometimes too.

    Advice to Management

An increase in wages would be nice.

I worked at US Airways full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are the best reason to work here. It felt like a crazy, great, dysfunctional family. I've some of best moments of my life there.

    Cons

Very low salaries and the divisions between the US Airways and American Airlines, as well as the divisions between the old "East" and the "West" employees from the US Airways and America West merger.

    Advice to Management

Significantly raise wages. Don't look down on the US Airways employees, now that it's officially American Airlines.

I worked at US Airways full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company itself was a pleasure to work for, however, the airline industry is not for everyone. It can be very stressful and change happens frequently. If you are a person that doesn't enjoy change, this company and industry is not for you. The company had great benefits, treated their employees fairly, and created an atmosphere that was open for communication.

    Cons

Very stressful, especially when it came to passengers. Flight delays and cancellations during the winter months would test anyone's patience. There were times I was threatened by passengers because their vacation was ruined by mother nature. Of course, there are other positions where you don't come into contact with passengers. Just keep that in mind.

    Advice to Management

There isn't much I would recommend to management. Overall, my experience with the company was a good one. The industry needs to have more stability to be considered a career.

I worked at US Airways full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with and for, good salary and travel benefits....fun job!! Even better opportunities with the pending merger of American Airlines and US Airways.

    Cons

None at present. There are too many good things that will come from the merger of 2 great airlines!

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I have been working at US Airways part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flight benefits, health insurance isn't too bad either. Most of the employees are helpful. Love the flexibility of your schedule

    Cons

Low starting pay, although they are negotiating a higher contract for us. Break rooms could be a little better but they are slowly improving them

I have been working at US Airways full-time

    Pros

Flight benefits, health coverage, 401 (k)

    Cons

Schedule is pretty brutal since it is seniority based.

    Advice to Management

There are some people who are working for you that are terrible at customer service.

I worked at US Airways full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Route system especially now, with the merger of American Airlines. Miss the old American 'look' and way of doing things and the individual companies as a whole. Uniforms are prettier and pay is higher now that we are blended family. Base selections are wider variety now, which is great. The company is so large now it's completely lost the personal touch tho our reputation is good and respected.

    Cons

Now much harder to commute and seniority drop-downs are tough to take. Difficulties from this merger are going to take a long while to overcome.
