Advice to Senior ManagementThe military is what you make of it. It has its good and bad moments, but it is an experience and bond you will cherish for life. I recently retired with 30 years and would not change a thing.

Great experience that left me with a lifetime of pride.

US Army Helicopter Mechanic (Current Employee)
    Fort Hood, TX

ProsOpportunities abound in the army with a changing focus on education and advancement. There are so many different types of jobs that are open to a new recruit that can lead to a career in the military or provide a step ahead for a job outside the military. Even if your first choice does not turn out to be what was expected, there is the opportunity to change job fields after a few years.

ConsThe military is a constantly changing environment that one has to learn to adapt with and adapt to. The current change is in how it is making it's senior leaders more responsible for the training of junior soldiers as well as more accountable for the actions of junior soldier..

Advice to Senior ManagementIn light of the current generation that is being recruited and the difficulties that the job market is seeing in general with this current generation, I think it would go a long way in preparing and assisting the current recruits if there was more emphasis placed on the realities of military life and what is going to be expected of them.

    Good foot in the door

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGI Bill, free living arrangements if you are single with no kids, great experience for someone with no job skills

ConsHigher enlisted ranks show favoritism, if you are not part of the "click" your life is made to suck, with that being said this is unit specific.
