The place to be

Registered Nurse (Current Employee)

I have been working at US Department of Veterans Affairs full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe VA has it's difficulties, but after working the the private sector for years, the innovation and standards of care are above anything you would see outside the VA. Employees are treated well and your growth is up to you. There are so many programs to enhance your career, the sky is the limit.

ConsIt can be difficult to get used to the "VA way". Give yourself a year or two of service to the VA and you will then be able to see why things are done so differently.

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage your employees to take advantage of the opportunities for growth at the VA.
