I have been working at US Foods full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Money, if you don't want to have a life and I really do not consider this a pro.

    Cons

For a number one branch they sure have a lot of turn over and law suits ! They treat people like crap ! Way too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Do not train well and expect everything. I see it every day here. I really can go on and on but will spare you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope, with this merger, all the nasty lying mangers get what they deserve ! OUT OF WORK !!! This place will run better. Sysco has a lot of work on there hands and I hope that they are up for that ? If I were Sysco I would run too! I am as soon as possible and not looking back.

Dead Company Walking - The Sysco acquisition will destroy what is left of this mediocre company.

I worked at US Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Fair salary and benefits
Smart people (who don't get the chance to succeed)

    Cons

    1. Be prepared to wear plenty of hats.
    2. Work life balance is non existent.
    3. Quote from my boss "I have put my job ahead of my family my entire career and it worked well for me".
    4. People from all functional areas are jumping off this sinking ship weekly due to the acquisition of US Foods by poor performing industry leader Sysco. (NOTICE I WROTE ACQUISITION AND NOT MERGER).
    5. Propaganda is spread daily; mainly, "It's business as usual 'till the acquisition closes". Senior management needs to know that the troops don't believe it when you say it. They know that's all about the executives chasing that final Us Foods bonus.
    6. Metrics will always be put ahead of people in this organization. They do not care about employees at all. When they say they do, it's just words.
    7. EBITDA is all that matters to management. They don't care about people, workers, efforts, or anything else; just the bottom line!!
    8. Vacation day's????? ya right, you have them but don't get to use them. And don't forget about those company holidays...you get to work those days as well (without compensation or comp days).
    9. Most persons in charge advanced from the floor. This inbreeding had stalled the company and you literally hear phrases such as "this is the way we have always done it" on a weekly basis. That mentality is killing the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just be real with everyone and admit that this acquisition is not good for the company nor most of its employees. Job loss will be high and tenured persons at Sysco will not openly accept persons from the US Foods ranks (if they survive the massive layoffs). Acquisitions as large as this one will only be successful with massive cuts, reduction in overlapping functions, and facility consolidations and/or closures. STOP KIDDING YOURSELF AND LYING TO THE STAFF.

I worked at US Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, they are state wide so you can transfer if you move, competitive pay.

    Cons

night manager does not know how to run the night shift. He has selectors doing loading and lift operating when we are already short selectors to begin with. He's not hiring enough people for the job and they wonder why the truck always late.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a new night manager or do an investigation on management. Since he's taken over we've lost selectors that have been with the company for more than 10+ years to our competitors.
