Nice company and people but uncertain future due to merger.

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Rosemont, IL

ProsAttempt at creating positive culture. Company had been winning in marketplace. Many nice people.

ConsAcquired by Sysco but not closed yet. Acquisition creates a very uncertain pessimistic future. Leadership trying to convince folks to stay but not convincing. Only a handful will benefit from acquisition and it will clearly be bad for customers, competition and employees. FaceTime culture is not modern.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit trying to convince people there is opportunity when they know better.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Way to much work for what you get paid

    Forklift Operator (Current Employee)
    Iowa City, IA

ProsHealth care. Weekly pay. Nothing else

ConsSalary is bad. Making 30000 grand a year while other employee's are making 50000 for doing less then I do. Not enough help for the higher ups. Buyers have know clue what they are doing. Sales reps need to push newer products so we can get rid of older product that we don't sell.

Advice to Senior ManagementRaises. Pay your employees what the deserve.

    Circus Act

    Territory Manager (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

    ProsSome good people and products.

ConsPromotions and hand outs are given to senior managements pals. You must be in the "IN" crowd to succeed here. They will set you up for failure or success. The current leadership is highly unethical. The pressures of the company initiatives are intense. No trust and the HR no retaliation policy is a joke. Deliveries need help.

Advice to Senior ManagementLess pressure on the people who generate your revenue would be a good start. Give sales the opportunity to grow their routes before pulling the plug. Do something about routing. Hold management accountable for they're inability to lead. Stop the favoritism its blatant? Reality will hurt when SYSCO takes over.

    Associate (Route Driver) (Former Employee)
    Topeka, KS

Prosgood hard work but not under ideal conditions. good pay and somewhat good benefits

Consupper management has no idea what the real employees do everyday . unqualified people in management positions. maintainence lacks alot on equiptment, talk safety but doesnt follow thru on employee concerns

Advice to Senior Managementreplace all upper management with people that actually know how to do the jobs they are in charge of. TOO many chiefs not enough indians

Executives sold the company after I had only been here a short time.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsEveryone is very nice and helpful. Friendly faces everywhere. Convenient location, though downtown would be better than the suburbs, at least it is close to the blue line.

ConsCulture is strange and leaving before 5 is discouraged even though there are no company hours and many people get there before 8. Others show up at 9 or later and still leave at 5. Strange culture around not having hallway conversations.

Great company when it still acted like a foodservice company concentrating on customer service.

    Manager (Former Employee)

ProsWorking with professionals who did a great job in building a team environment before change in senior leadership several years ago.

ConsThe last couple of years turned away from a team environment to one in which each department was not working together in a way that was conducive to a healthy working environment.

At one time, a great work place.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsFor salespeople... work on your own time expectations

ConsManage to mediocrity rather than excellence.

Used to be a good company to work for

    Sales (Former Employee)

ProsScoop ideas were great, BUT they were mostly aligned for Large Metropolitan areas and most of them did not apply to customers that are 'rural'. The money was good for a number of years.

ConsOnce they changed the name of the company to "US Foods" things changed. Management started ":bullying" the sales staff...Punishments for not selling Scoop Items..Punishments for not making your goals...Punishments for not picking up new customers...NO HELP from management..Now that Sysco is trying to aquire US Foods it will be a mess. and even more of a mess, if the government allows the buyout. sysco will have a complete Monopoly of the Food Service Industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet back to basics. Selling is a talent...Most People DO NOT want to put their own orders in on line. They want to deal with a salesperson, with suggestions, ideas, help.
Poor Management. Clear to the top.
