I have been working at US Navy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Project and personnel management experience.

    Cons

No "leadership" opportunity for junior officers. You are a figure head.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow junior officers to make more decisions rather than bypass them to work directly with enlisted NCOs.

I worked at US Navy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Full time employment, great pay and benefits, the skill and training that I have received while serving in the Navy will benefit me the rest of my life both in the work force and family life. I'll never find a job where I get to travel the world and get paid to see new places.

    Cons

There are days with very long working hours and the underway eat into your family and personal life so much that it is hard to do anything other then think about work even when you are at home. There is always that potential to be called in at anytime of the day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

really I can't since all of the policies are made outside my control.

I have been working at US Navy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Job stability, medical benefits for you and family, go to places you never thought you could go.

    Cons

A lot of time away from family and friends while underway and deployed. Systematic decisions from above sometimes seem senseless. Unpredictable schedule on a fast attack submarine makes planning for life challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because someone passed a test doesn't mean they should advance to a new level of responsibilities. Some people are better as workers than supervisors. Unfortunately the system can forces some workers to become bad supervisors in charge. There should be a way to reject a promotion.

    Pros

You get to see the world and explore new possiblities, get free training. You get to be a lab rat, and an experimental patient for science.

    Cons

You get to see the world and explore new possiblities then realise you get to see the world from in side of a steel trap where you can't see anything out, get free training on how to tie knots, that will help you. You get to be a lab rat, and an experimental patient for science.
