    Pros

Great benefits, decent pay, can see different parts of the world with the navy paying for your move.

    Cons

Extended time away from family, tough working hours while in port, have to work in cramped tight positions at times.

    Pros

JFK said it best. Travel. See the world. Get good experience. There are many benefits to serving in the Navy, but the most important is knowing that your work is important and is also part of a history that spans several hundred years.

    Cons

Work-life balance is tough. Ship food is gross. It can be difficult to exercise and maintain health while deployed on a ship for months.

    Advice to Management

Hoo-yah! Keep up the good work. Keep treating the sailors well. You do a good job, but we can always do better. When our sailors get paid more than our Congress, then we can rest easy!

    Pros

Job security, benefits, travel, fair pay for the work, you can work all over the world, if you enjoy travel, this is a plus.

    Cons

Peter principle is alive and well; however, the best people are not always advanced. Frequent relocations, often not of your choosing.

  6. Imperfect, but the benefits are outstanding.

    Pros

The G.I. Bill makes up for everything negative and then some. There are also tons of opportunities to lead, and get recognized. The training can also be outstanding. Really a fantastic place to start getting ahead in life.

    Cons

The culture of the Navy isn't something I'd beat a drum about. There is still a lot of bigotry and sexism that occurs as an everyday thing. The food is terrible. Hours are long and mind numbingly boring.

    Advice to Management

Try to waste less money, and be more cognizant of retaining competence and talent vs, just loading ever more work on the few that actually manage to get things done and pushing them out.

    Pros

The navy has great benefits: healthcare, 401K, food, lodging, education, and descent pay. It is a good way to see parts of the world you wouldn't otherwise get to see.

    Cons

The working hours can be long, unpredictable, and demanding. Sometimes you have to spend a long time away from loved ones.

    Pros

I've learned life skills and jobs skills that will last a lifetime. Advancement and Pay is decent.

    Cons

24 hour Duty can be taxing.

    Advice to Management

Keep improving quality of life and pay, if you want to keep an all voluntary force.

    Pros

Adventure, incredible responsibility at an early age, excellent training, discipline, save plenty of money (because you don't have time to spend it)

    Cons

Schadenfreude culture, people ignorantly think that memorizing manuals is somehow equivalent to writing the manuals, little time for life besides submarine, people seem angrier / less happy the higher up they are

    Advice to Management

Hold a critique as to why JO retention is so bad / Academy grads are being "volunteered" for subs.

    Pros

there are great things about the Navy. You get medical benefits... maybe not the best medical benefits but they will take care of you. They will pay for you to get an education. You have the opportunity to do some of the coolest things in the world and meet some of the best people in the world.

    Cons

If you are a family person, it can make it hard being on deployment. They don't hire the brightest people. They have a fix it until it breaks attitude.
