    Pros

The pros exist where departments are cohesive, work together, have established an environment of trust and are able to make amazing strides towards making UTSW the best of the best that Dallas has to offer. There are so many brilliant people on that campus- it's humbling, yet energizing, motivating, inspirational...

    Cons

The leadership within various departments is glaringly, and unfortunately, inadequate to a fault. People in the Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs department are all ready to jump ship at any minute. The leadership that has been hired in unfortunately has no soft skills, no hard skills, or no ANY skills as far as our entire department can discern. There are some really amazingly talented people there and they are just being hemorraghed by the onslaught of poor managing practices and weak, inadequate, petty, unskilled, ineffective managers.

    Advice to Management

Take a second look at the people who are leaving and why. You are losing some amazing people. The inexperienced managers that were hustled in, hoping for some grandiose changes, are doing nothing but chasing away the brightest and most talented people- many some of the sharpest and most innovative people I've ever met and had the privilege of working with.

    Pros

    Decent PTO, coworkers are nice.

    Cons

Regardless of what people call flexible schedule there is none. What HSIR calls flexible scheduling involves a flexible start time of 7 to 9 AM. Only executive HSIR leadership has flexible scheduling. All others work Monday through Friday with an expected minimum week of 45 hours.

    Advice to Management

    Adopt true flexible scheduling.

    Pros

    Great Benefits, Great staff

    Cons

Micromanage, Management and supervisors don't know what they are doing. They block anyone wanting to leave or advance. They have production standards that need to be lowered. There is high turn over. They only promote and give raises to their pets.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people doing the job. Until you get rid of the current management staff this place will never keep good employees.

    Pros

Great benefits and friendly employees. Able to move up in company. I worked there for two years and meet a lot of wonderful people!

    Cons

Micromanagement, micromanagement, micromanagement!!! It's exhausting and stressful. The clinic I worked at was not fully staffed- ONE CSA did the work of 3 CSAs.

    Pros

Very easy and decent benefits. Probably the best benefits package I've seen.

    Cons

No room for growth, out of touch superiors and severe punishment/termination when employees voice concerns

    Advice to Management

Seek your employees, learn about them and how to best support them.

    Pros

Renowned specialists throughout the organization. Great training programs, classes, & knowledgeable training staff.

    Cons

Management has very little support to discipline problematic employees. Training is wonderful but no one in the actual clinics applies what they've learned at the leadership level. Very hostile working environment; if you are an over achiever & want to make a difference, the long standing employees make life very difficult because they are all threatened by anyone who WANTS to work hard.

    Advice to Management

Don't settle on just tenure with employees; if there is a problem, whether with front line staff or management, allow those things to be dealt with professionally. Support management in removing problematic employees when proper protocol is followed. Don't allow gossip/hostility/bullying from old, tenured employees towards good, new employees you hired to make a difference - serious culture change needed.
