I have been working at Ulta Beauty part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Access to the public to build a clientele but I also believe location is key! So far good training which is free! Gratis, great employees and some management! I stay somewhat busy! Some days are good and some days are slow! I really enjoy my job and since we are a new store I am trying to stay positive and patient

    Cons

Nazi Rule Management, the hourly pay/commission scale no benefits no traffic in the store then no clients to convert, trying to get salon to work retail or stock, not enough floor coverage and since we are still a new store so far very high turnover rate.

I have been working at Ulta Beauty

    Pros

They have a good discount and working there has helped me learn more about the beauty industry. It has also helped me grow when it comes to interacting with peers and different types of customers.

    Cons

I've learned a lot about products and applying makeup because I was interested in it. However, the company doesn't invest too much in training for everyone in the store. The training is mainly given to prestige consultants. There is also a high turnover, which is due to the fact that managers hire employees too quickly without really finding out who a person really is. This leads to internal problems that end with unhappy customers, managers, and coworkers. The pay could also be higher for the amount of work that is expected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would definitely expect more investment of time and energy into the hiring process. Also, they need to create a better process for dealing with customer theft. There also needs to be more employee appreciation for the employees who work hard for the company.

I worked at Ulta Beauty part-time for less than a year

    Pros

We got an employee discount, and working with customers could be fun. Free samples for employees occurred relatively frequently, and I was personally given several chances to prove myself independently in leadership roles.

    Cons

It's low pay, and for whatever reason, customers at a beauty store can apparently be more horrible than customers elsewhere--you deal with quite a bit of entitlement and cynicism-inducing frivolity. If you aren't comfortable pushing/upselling a magazine, you'll be uncomfortable here.

    Pros

The atmosphere is so much fun, all the girls are great it's like a family.

    Cons

It's not abnormal to get less than 24hrs a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More help at the cashwrap is always a plus!

I worked at Ulta Beauty full-time for more than a year

    Pros

For those with the drive, you can learn a lot and grow your career. Fast pace for those who can keep up. They are growing (see below), so opportunities can happen at any time. There is a clear trend toward customer service.

    Cons

The company is still growing and changes in leadership sometimes leave the ship without a captain. The environment is constantly changing at times with no clear direction.

I have been working at Ulta Beauty part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Managers give you a flexible work schedule to accommodate with school etc. You get a 25% discount in the store and 50% at the salon. The tasks given to you are simple job-entry type. You get to have a first look at new products on the market.

    Cons

They start you at a quarter above minimum wage. They give you minuscule yearly raises. They hardly have any hours to give to part time employees. If you are not in prestige, you do not get any proper training on makeup so you are basically useless to customers questions.
