Former Employee – worked at Ulta part-time for less than a year
Pros – Time really flies by when you're a cashier. The lines. especially on weekends was insane so keeping busy was good. Management was pretty fair and understanding. No pressure to come in a work sick or if you had an emergency. The discount isn't huge but still nice, especially on clearance items.
Cons – The pay is ridiculous. $.7.50 an hour. It was okay for me because I didn't need to earn much from a part time job. If you really need to earn a living and need more than money for extras, this is not for you.
The pressure to get people to sign up for Instyle magazine is horrible. One of my fellow employess was threatened to be fired if she didn't sell more magazines. I also felt like the customers were put off by it as well.
Advice to Senior Management – Sometimes I felt that there were too many managers on the floor at once. Being asked to do one thing by one person only to have another tell you that it's wrong is confusing.

Former Employee – worked at Ulta part-time for less than a year
Pros – Just a great place, ran by great people, great company. I loved it- training in one day, very thorough. decent pay. Managers were very polite and sharp- on their toes about budgeting, their employees needs, and the stores future. My manager, assistant manager, and person in charge of our team were driven, professional, kind, and spirited, loyal people. I never worked so hard that I resented it, but I was always busy and bustling about. Different opportunities based on your commitment and performance.
Cons – Lack of hours after holiday season when budget dips and builds back up.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you are doing because this has been a very great experience for me.

Current Employee – been working at Ulta part-time for more than a year
Pros – Fun, exciting work environment; lots of great gratis to be had; 50% salon service discount, 25% product discount
Cons – Most customers are women, and women can be very demanding and down right rude to retail employees, particularly when an item they want is not in stock.
Advice to Senior Management – Bring back the twice-a-year 45% employee discount!
