    Pros

Great compensation, great benefits, lots of opportunities to get involved and make a difference, great company and quite possibly the world's best CEO. How many people get to share elevators of wave a hello in the parking lot to your CEO? "People first" is a very real concept at Ultimate and you will get out of it what you put in.

    Cons

Change is not handled very well here which is unfortunate because it happens frequently. We make some big moves and we're encouraged to take risks but often we as employees are blindsided by the sudden change in direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to us more..delegate more. We have more insight into what will make a difference because we are on the front lines. We are on the team and we are bought in and ready to go so give us the opportunity to show you what we can do.

Current Employee - Account Manager in Weston, FL

I have been working at Ultimate Software full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Humble CEO that is not a numbers-based guy but a people-focused guy makes all the difference in the world. I do not feel like just a number but a partner. This is RARE especially in corporate america. The attention that is given to me and my external quality of life motivates me to improve my internal quality of work ethic. Where most companies fail to realize that the corporate culture is just like day to day outside relationships, is where Ultimate excels.

    Cons

The main challenge is the parking. We've outgrown our building years ago and it's survival of the fittest in the parking lot each morning.

More specific to my role, the demands are high. Internal communication can certainly be streamlined and more accountable in order to relieve demands on the Account Managers. We know the customer the best so every other department includes us in EVERY communication having to do with the customer. However, this is proving more harmful than helpful. There is high turnover in this role (luckily to other positions internally) because the demand for our attention is always solicited but not always necessary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

First thing we learn when we come to Ultimate during New Hire Orientation is to value your SME's (subject matter experts) and not abuse them. In retrospect of product knowledge, Account Managers are SME's when it comes to customers. It'd be nice to see management partner with Account Managers to understand 'a day in the life' and consider decisions based off of that experience when it will affect the person sitting in the Account Manager role. We have a lot of great ideas for improvement that I believe aren't given a fighting chance either because of timing or unrealistic perception. However, if you know what the day to day is and work around that, I believe we'd see more success not only in cooperation but in results. There's more to the role and customer service than the dashboard(s) tell. It's the voicemail, email, 'quick question' that customers, internals and peers have that truly display our challenges on the day to day.

Increase ways to grow peoples careers not just their salaries and stock options. Path to management is hard due to flat structure.

I worked at Ultimate Software full-time

    Pros

Benefits are amazing. They do take care of people via their benefits. People work hard and are dedicated to the organization and the vision of the company. Quarterly meetings with all employees are very good in keeping everyone informed of the progress of the company.

    Cons

Company has grown so fast over the last couple of years that the "family culture" is beginning to be affected. The growth is only now beginning to be structured. Because of the fast unstructured growth over the last couple of years, many people were impacted and moral started to drop and unfortunately, continuing to drop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful of cronyism. It is beginning to be very prevalent in the organization and impacting the business.

    Pros

Company benefits are the best in the business. Didn't meet one person that wasn't friendly. Everyone is willing to help with whatever needs to be done. Many people work remotely, who doesn't like working from your kitchen table

    Cons

Phoenix division is new and not as organized as the rest of the company. I think after a few years things will settle down and fall into place
