My experience at United Airlines was in reservations and overall very positive

I worked at United Airlines full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Flight benefits were awesome and for some reason I could almost get on the flights most of the times. The work environment was very friendly even when we had bad days i.e. storms in Chicago that disrupted the flights.

    Cons

The pay was not great especially if you were brand new but they had a pay scale that rewarded you at your 10th anniversary. Never made it though, my office in LA closed after 09/11.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic, ever changing business that's tough and never boring. Flight benefits are excellent. Many co-workers are great people to work with. A lot of great career opportunities, and the HQ city - Chicago - is a fantastic place to live and work.

    Cons

Weaker leadership at the highest of levels - primarily C level team. Culture in the field is considered to be weak, displaying little faith in the management team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lay off on the excuses for under-performance and instead make yourself visible to the operations personnel at the company. Being available, transparent, and willing to aid the line employees helps create a bond between management and the field, but more importantly will help create the solid culture we all want at United.

I have been working at United Airlines as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The people within the department were knowledgable and extremely friendly. Even as an Intern I really felt part of the team and was able to contribute to the company. Also, the flight benefits made for a really fun summer filled with weekend adventures!

    Cons

Airline industry as a whole has had a rough couple of years recently, but everything seems to be turning around!

I have been working at United Airlines as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Talented co-workers, good pay, space-available flight benefits, positive-space travel for business, interesting projects, and challenging workload.

    Cons

No significant cons, and certainly none that outweigh the pros, but the corporate culture is a little strange and still somewhat divided as a result of the 2010 UA/CO merger.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to develop the already well-structured internship program. It does a great job of building brand loyalty and peaking college students' interest in airline careers.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

At United there are many different positions available, many you would never associate with an airline. You may begin a an entry level position but if you dedicate yourself you will be recognized and other doors will open.

    Cons

United's operation is 24/7. The Company depends on reliable co-works willing to work weekends holidays and all hours of the day and night. Co-workers are compensated accordingly and some enjoy other activities due to the different work shifts available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the individual departments manage there own areas. We have talented co-workers that can contribute to our success due to their experience and knowledge.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Benefits from discounts at certain places and of course flying for free! We literally eat for free in our cafeteria...they take out 5$ per paycheck..so basically your eating all you want for .50 cents a day. CAN BEAT THAT. then of course flying I haven't gone anyways yet but they do give you 2 days off together so you will be able to take a day trip. It's to much stuff to name..I can't wait to move up within United!

    Cons

Cons...can't think of any..If they are I won't focus on them

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If I have advice on concerns I will email management personally but continue doing a great job
