I worked at United States Department of Energy part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The work/life balance was fabulous and the people were so motivated and had the desire to serve the country. There are plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth. You can truly learn so much about the federal government by working at the headquarters in DC.

    Cons

There wasn't any. They say that the government jobs are the best. It certainly is true for DOE. I absolutely loved doing what I did at the DOE.

I worked at United States Department of Energy as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

DOE was in the midst of disbursing 1705 loan guarantees during my internship there, and there was plenty of work to go around. Staff is extremely qualified and helpful.

    Cons

There is a definite sense of "government bureaucracy" throughout the organization. People leave promptly at 5pm. I mean, at 5:05, offices can be completely dead. The lack of morale is frustrating.
