Current Employee – been working at United States Steel
Pros – Great benefits, decent salary and wages. Working at the plants there is a lot of teamwork and communication between groups.
Cons – People are handpicked for jobs. Don't expect to plan your own career path, it will be planned for you. If you don't move, you will be passed over.

Current Employee – been working at United States Steel
Pros – Good benefits with actual pension, 401k, very cheap medical and fairly reliable employment. Flexible hours and good people.
Cons – Management philosophy still thinks it's 1960. Rule with fear, shouting, threats and blame. Avoid delegating any responsibillity to lowerlevel managers, so every answer is "too bad, can't change it". Half the upper management could benefit with some business school training from this century.
Advice to Senior Management – Realize the "job for life" contract from 1950 is over. If you want to actually retain solid, capable workers for the future, you actually have to pretend you are happy to have THEM, not they happy to have a job at USS. Be flexible, think more modern, and buy a new chair or paint can once in a while. You're competing with thousands of other companies now for workers.
