    Pros

Strong benefits and rewards, excellent wages, challenging assignments, opportunity for growth, outstanding safety program, many employment roles to choose and excel with.

    Cons

Excessive temperature changes but we'll worth to man up too! On the southern tip of Lake Michigan exposes both workers and equipment to stressful conditions throughout the years. Plus the conditions of molten steel and iron may be challenging.

I worked at United States Steel full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Collegial team oriented environment. Team oriented and people are very supportive of each other. Good management with a long term horizon at the pension fund subsidiary in NYC where I worked.

    Cons

Limited opportunity for advancement. Pension fund assets are not growing and the Fund will eventually sunset in about 20 years as it was closed to employees hired after mid-2003.

    Pros

This is a huge company, and some fields are better than others. The technology and support roles are wonderful, there is a gigantic environment with many different systems. You can be a jack of all trades or specialize in one area or another. Good benefits, every company has issues but your attitude determines your latitude.

    Cons

Shareholders, layoffs and budget cuts in the past have created some bitter employees. But that is part of the business. Upper management is relatively down to earth especially John Surma. Sometimes you get stuck supporting antiquated systems and have to piecemeal things together.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spread the wealth. There are a lot of talented people not making a lot of money.

I have been working at United States Steel

    Pros

If you want to be exposed to a good Industrial environment than United States Steel is a great place to work. You will be exposed to many things quickly and will see how a big manufacturing company runs its business.

    Cons

Sometimes working longs hours can be tough. The environment out in the plants is dirty and you have to wear Personal protective gear when working around machines and equipment. work environment can be noisy and sometimes it is hard to work with people of a diverse background and qualifications. Union environment is an example of that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You must see the potential in the younger generation and keep them up to date of their future goals and opportunities.
